Tamara Vedeneeva - magnificent breasts. Is it possible to sunbathe topless? Who risks the most?

The debate between opponents of topless tanning and its ardent supporters has not subsided, perhaps, since those ancient times when tanning began to be considered a sign of health and beauty. It’s difficult to argue about the beauty of tanned breasts, but oncologists are talking more and more often about the real risks of topless tanning and the terrible statistics of breast cancer incidence in Ukraine.

Chest to the sun!

Proponents of topless tanning claim that sunbathing without a bra is an absolutely natural, close to nature perception of the sun's rays by the body, giving a gorgeous tan without pale stripes on the chest. And all the complaints about tanning without a swimsuit relate exclusively to the rejection of publicly naked female breasts on the beach.

By the way, some American and Italian scientists claim that solar radiation reduces the likelihood of developing breast cancer. However, they caution that this is only about the beneficial effects of vitamin D on the body, which is produced in the body under the influence of sunlight and reduces the likelihood of breast cancer. American doctors warn that the increased aggressiveness of sunlight in the last decade poses a threat to the skin. To replenish vitamin D deficiency, it is enough to be in the sun for 2 hours a day in the summer, avoiding direct exposure to sunlight on the skin.

How topless tanning provokes the development of cancer, says a breast oncologist

Our oncologists are little concerned about moral and ethical considerations about tanning without a swimsuit. But the number of women who contacted them for the first time after the beach season about breast and skin tumors gives them a concrete reason to object to naked-breasted tanning.

Oncologist-mammologist Vladimir Nod categorically does not recommend topless sunbathing, since many women have various benign formations of the mammary glands, even if they are not aware of it yet. The well-known mastopathy, for example, is often asymptomatic, but can intensify to the point of breast cancer after intense topless tanning. This is due to the fact that UV rays stimulate the endocrine system, sometimes leading to hormonal imbalance in the body and activating tumor growth.

Who risks the most?

Women who have undergone breast surgery, are obese, or take hormonal medications, especially those whose relatives have had cancer, are at great risk when sunbathing without a bathing bra.

Scary statistics

Every year, more and more young patients with breast cancer are being registered with oncology.

In Ukraine, almost 16 thousand are detected every year. women newly diagnosed with breast cancer, and about 8 thousand. of these die within a year. The high mortality rates are explained by the fact that women are extremely inattentive to breast cancer prevention, including excessive tanning without a bra and seeking help from oncologists too late. Chief oncologist of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, Professor Ivan Smolanka

How a swimsuit protects breasts from cancer

First of all, a swimsuit protects the breasts from skin damage from the sun's UV rays. The skin on the chest is very delicate and vulnerable, and therefore easily susceptible to sunburn even on a not too hot day. Sunburn of the nipples and areolas (nipple circles) is especially dangerous, which can cause peeling of the skin and cracks in the nipples, provoke the appearance of boils on the skin of the breast and even oncological changes in the mammary gland.

Do not refuse a bathing bra if it covers a dark-colored mole protruding above the surface of the skin. The sun's UV rays can lead to the development of melanoma from a seemingly harmless mole that is not hidden from the sun by a swimsuit.

For desperate topless tanning fans

Before exposing your breasts on the beach, visit an oncologist or mammologist in order to find out for yourself all the risks associated with this pleasure.

Try to bask in its rays for no longer than 15-20 minutes a day and enjoy the sun without a swimsuit only in the morning before 11.00 and in the evening after 16.00. After sunbathing topless for 5 minutes, hide in the shade for 20-30 minutes, then return to the sun again. Be sure to use a protective cream that at least partially replaces a swimsuit, such as a protective stick for sensitive skin areas Collistar Sun Stick High Protection SPF 30 or sun stick Collistar Sun Stick SPF50+.

THALASSOTHERAPY - SEA IN THE BATHROOM

Sea baths and mud wraps are the most effective ways to improve breast condition. These are thalassotherapy methods, the essence of which is to improve the figure and condition of the skin, as well as treat certain diseases with the help of beneficial substances contained in sea salt, algae, and plankton. You will say that yes, you have heard about this, but to do this you have to go to the Red or Mediterranean Sea, pay crazy money...

Not at all necessary! Now thalassotherapy is so popular that centers have begun to be created that provide comprehensive treatment of various diseases and healing of the body’s skin (including breast skin) using various marine procedures. Some of the methods of thalassotherapy can only be used in sanatorium conditions, but there are also ways to improve the condition of the skin that, thanks to modern “marine” cosmetics, have become available at home.

One of these methods is sea baths. Their cosmetic effect is amazing: the skin becomes smooth and healthy, its tone and elasticity increase and, what interests us most, fat deposits in the breast tissue are reduced. What is the secret of sea baths? To begin with, sea salt contains magnesium, which strengthens the chest muscles; potassium, which removes excess fluid and waste from the body; calcium, which increases tissue elasticity; as well as sulfur, iodine, silicon and other substances that our body needs so much. In addition, sea water helps improve metabolism.

So, let's try to create a small sea in our own bath. All you need for this: water, sea salt (or other medicinal cosmetics based on seafood) and 15 minutes of free time.

Fill the bath with warm water (precisely warm, no more than 37-38 ° C, since hot water dries out the skin, dissolving natural sebum, and in addition, can adversely affect the functioning of the heart), add 400 g of coarse sea salt and relax in your pleasure (after all, a bath with sea salt not only improves the condition of the breasts and skin in general, but is also an excellent remedy for relieving tension). However, don’t get carried away - you need to take a bath for no more than 15 minutes, otherwise you risk getting problems with blood circulation instead of the therapeutic and cosmetic effect.

But - pay attention! - if you suffer from cardiovascular diseases, such baths are contraindicated for you. However, do not rush to get upset - you can safely recommend compresses with sea water. These procedures are no less useful and can be carried out just as easily at home.

For compresses you will need two small bowls - one with cold water, to which you can add lemon juice or apple cider vinegar; the other with hot water and dissolved sea salt. Soak a towel in hot water and apply it to your chest from bottom to top. Hold for 30 seconds, then soak the towel in cold water and apply it to your chest again. Repeat the procedure 10 times, ending with a cold compress.

Another effective way to improve breast condition, applicable at home, is mud wrapping. Its effect is due to the mineral and biostimulating substances contained in the healing sea mud, which make the skin more elastic, healthy, and perfectly cleanse it. In addition, sea mud, when drying on the skin, creates a film under which the skin heats up, expanding the pores, and this promotes the active penetration of necessary substances into the deep layers of the skin.

Cosmetic preparations based on medicinal mud have recently appeared in stores in large quantities, so it will not be difficult for you to choose the right preparation and do this procedure at your leisure. We will offer several recommendations that will allow you to further increase the effectiveness of the mud wrap and, importantly, not harm yourself.

First of all, please note that it is better to carry out such procedures in the evening - because it is at this time (from approximately 18 to 22 hours) that the skin becomes most receptive to nutrients contained in all kinds of cosmetic preparations.

Another tip: use special devices, such as a brush, to apply therapeutic mud to the skin. Your hands will remain clean, and you can apply the healing product in a more even layer, at the same time lightly massaging the skin of your chest.

Finally, when applying healing mud to the décolleté, do not touch the nipples: they are extremely sensitive. Therefore, a product that is good for the skin of the breasts can lead to irritation of the nipples.

If you follow these simple rules, the effect of the procedure will meet and even exceed all your expectations.

In conclusion, it should be noted that all the thalassotherapy procedures we offer are not products for every day. After all, from oversaturation of the skin with minerals, as well as from their lack, the condition of the skin of the décolleté area can worsen. Therefore, it will be quite enough to carry out such procedures once or twice a month, alternating them with other breast skin care products - for example, with living cosmetic masks.

TOPLESS TAN: DANGEROUS BEAUTY

A sense of proportion is important not only when you want to change the shape or size of your breasts, but also when changing its... color. Recently, many women have become fans of topless tanning. This buzzword refers to tanning without a swimsuit top. Of course, an even, beautiful tan emphasizes the whiteness of your smile and the grace of your figure. Even more beautiful is a continuous tan without any traces of a swimsuit, which allows you to wear open dresses and sundresses with thin straps. But do you know about the danger that the sun brings?

Recently, doctors have been arguing about what more harm or benefit - the sun's rays give us. Let's figure it out. First of all, our skin reacts to the sun's rays. In its upper layer, the epidermis, there are special cells - melanocytes. It is they who form the dark brown coloring substance - melanin, which prevents harmful radiation from penetrating deep into the skin and causing irreversible changes there. Natural cell division is enhanced by sunlight, and so-called “light calluses” are formed. Solar energy is beneficial for the whole body. The flow of blood to the skin under the influence of ultraviolet light renews it, helps to cope with acne, scars resolve, and minor cosmetic imperfections disappear. Sunlight promotes the formation of vital vitamin D. Sun rays stimulate the immune system and have a healing effect on the entire body.

So, is sunbathing good?

In principle, yes, but... Fair-skinned people produce little melanin, so their skin is not sufficiently protected and quickly burns in the sun. If you sunbathe improperly, you will get a sunburn. Ultraviolet radiation has a strong biological effect and, under certain circumstances, can destroy the molecular bonds of proteins and even affect the genetic material of individual cells, causing them to degenerate into life-threatening cancer cells.

So what should we do - to sunbathe or not to sunbathe? And most importantly, should you sunbathe with or without a swimsuit?

Almost all leading experts answer the last question unequivocally: of course, in a swimsuit. The fact is that the sun's rays dry out the skin of the breast (much more than on other parts of the body), and it loses its elasticity. In addition, ultraviolet rays deprive the skin of its beautiful natural color and can even cause irritation. But the skin of the breast is very sensitive and from such a careless attitude towards oneself it can age prematurely. By the way, in recent years, dermatologists have noted an increase in cases of keratinization of the skin on the chest - this is due precisely to the fashion of sunbathing without a swimsuit.

Think about what is more important to you: a flawless dark neckline or health? By the way, capricious fashion has recently preferred pale skin. And this is far from accidental. After all, the state of the environment today is such that it is simply impossible to spend a long time under the rays of the sun. So fashion is returning again to white skin, which must be carefully protected.

And if you decide to sunbathe topless, then the following tips will help you minimize the risk that ultraviolet rays pose.

* Avoid topless tanning if you are a fair-skinned blonde - you need to be especially careful!

* Before heading to the beach, eat something salty or drink tea with lemon. It is believed that this helps prevent the loss of important minerals that leave the body with sweat, and the tan will lie more evenly.

* Forget about the beach from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. - the direct, burning rays of the sun at this time will cause irreparable harm to the skin.

* While in the sun, do this test from time to time. Press your finger on the skin, preferably on the most sensitive area, such as the forearm. If a bright white print remains, that’s it, there’s enough sun for today.

* Don't trust clouds and fog - they transmit half of all ultraviolet rays. So on a cloudy day you can get a severe sunburn completely unnoticed.

* Do you like swimming, diving, water sports? Don't think that water will save you from the ubiquitous ultraviolet rays. Before a long swim, apply sunscreen. Remember that harmful radiation penetrates water to a depth of one meter.

Modern sunscreens

The harmful effects of sunlight have been well studied. Therefore, special protective products have been created that are designed to prevent the effects of exposure to ultraviolet radiation on the skin. In most cases, special sun creams contain chemical filters that block ultraviolet rays. Be sure to use these products if you expose your bare chest to the sun!

The period when the skin is able to protect itself from the sun is called self-protection time. Depending on the skin type, this period may vary, from 2 to 30 minutes. By using sunscreen, we can extend the time of self-protection - in accordance with the sun protection factor indicated on the label. Thus, the index or protection factor is the degree to which the time spent in the sun increases before the first reaction occurs. For example, index 15 means that after using the cream you can stay in the sun 15 times longer than without the cream. Attention! If you buy a cream made in the USA, be careful - Americans use a completely different measurement scale. The index "15" for them means the index "10", adopted in Europe.

Means used for burns

Avoid sunburn on the skin of your chest - they are very dangerous! If your skin turns red while sunbathing, it means you have a sunburn. But even if the skin does not turn red, there is no guarantee that contact with the sun will be painless, because the skin is a “late-ignition device.” Only after a few hours will the skin let you know whether it has absorbed the dose of ultraviolet radiation. And even if everything goes well, the skin needs to be helped with creams and masks that soothe, cool and heal minor damage in the stratum corneum.

For these purposes, products containing a lot of moisture and little fat are suitable. It is important that they do not clog the skin or stimulate blood circulation. Do not use alcohol lotions, vodka, etc. Folk remedies will help you. Grate fresh potatoes and apply the paste to the sore spot. As soon as the compress warms up, change it. Repeat several times. Water the affected areas several times a day with tea leaves cooled to 15°C. Mix 1 tbsp. spoon of vegetable oil, 2 tbsp. spoons of sour cream, yolk. Apply to the sunburn area several times a day. St. John's wort oil has an excellent effect. Lubricate the burned areas 2 times a day. Mix 100 g of butter (not margarine!) and 2 eggs. Apply this mixture to the affected areas of the skin and repeat the procedure after a few hours. For sunburn, use fresh aloe juice, gruel from fresh burdock leaves, and compresses from pumpkin juice.

Tanned breasts - not at a resort

Is it possible to tan in our northern area as if you had just come from Cyprus? And show your beloved your dark breasts in dazzling white lingerie?

Can. Now everything is possible. You just need to use a special cosmetic product - “self-tanning”, “tanning accelerator”, “tanning without the sun”, “bronzant” (on imported bottles they usually write “auto-bronzant” or “self-anning”). Under the influence of these products, which contain a substance called dehydroxyacetone, the same processes occur in the skin as under the sun's rays, that is, pigment is formed. A “tan” appears 4 hours after application.

For the skin, including the skin of the breast, this process is absolutely harmless, since only the upper layers of the stratum corneum are stained. Living cells remain intact. True, artificial tan does not last long. But there are no burns!

It must be remembered that self-tanning products do not provide any protection from the real sun, so there is always a risk of getting burned if you decide to show off your “summer” skin color on the beach.

Are you afraid that your tan will go uneven? Don't do the procedure in a hurry - this is the time. Do not buy self-tanning products from dubious sellers - that's two. And follow the following rules.

For an extra beautiful skin tone, first treat your skin with a good exfoliator. As a last resort, carefully go over the body with a hard sponge. Gently spread the cream, lotion or milk in a circular motion, trying to apply the product as evenly as possible. If you are not sure about the quality of a self-tanning product and really want to use it, experiment first on a small area of skin hidden from prying eyes. This will definitely need to be done if you are prone to allergies.

To maintain a constant tone, it is enough to apply the product 2 times a week. As practice shows, these drugs slightly dry out the skin, so it is necessary to resort to a moisturizer.

Solariums are now very fashionable for obtaining an artificial tan in any latitude and at any time of the year. As a rule, in modern equipment the culprits of sunburn - harmful ultraviolet rays - are filtered out. So what? The resulting tan has a specific grayish tint, and is easy to distinguish from the real thing. Vitamin D is almost not formed in the skin under the influence of a limited part of the spectrum. Pigmentation obtained in tanning salons does not increase the skin's resistance to real solar radiation.

If you decide to undergo this procedure, remember:

* consultation with a doctor if you have skin diseases or other serious health conditions is necessary;

* children under 15 years old are not allowed to visit the solarium;

* all cosmetics must be removed from the body several hours before sunbathing;

* no tanning products should be used in the solarium;

* special care must be taken after ingesting medications that increase the photosensitivity of the skin;

* there is a type of people who don't tan well. You cannot resist nature and exhaust yourself by lying under the artificial sun for a long time. You will get nothing but new wrinkles.

There are also tanning pills. As a rule, these pills contain canthaxanthin. Once in the body, this substance stains various organs and tissues, including the skin. Depending on the dose and individual characteristics, you can get an artificial tan from orange to dark brown. But experts do not recommend using such pills because canthaxanthin tends to accumulate in the retina, which is unsafe for those who like artificial tanning.

So with artificial tanning, not everything is as simple as it seems at first glance. Let's follow wise fashion that returns us to the natural color of our skin!

The frost is over! Shall we sunbathe? We will! At least I really want to. I don’t want to get sunburned and I don’t want to get sick either. The eternal dilemma is “sunbathing is not only harmful, but also very useful.” How to find the golden mean?

There are many rumors that tanning is dangerous... Some of these rumors are myths, but some are true. Let's find out what's what in the tanning rumors and get tanned the right way. So, is there smoke without fire?

Rumor #1 Does tanning cause cancer?

This rumor has good reason. Indeed, doctors have convincing evidence that excessive insolation (exposure to sunlight) can cause skin cancer, including such dangerous forms of cancer as melanoma and skin cancer of the nipple (Paget's cancer). However, what kind of tan is considered excessive?

You can answer right away - at least the kind that causes sunburn.

Of all these tumors, the most dangerous is melanoma, which usually develops from pigment spots of the skin. However, not all skin spots are dangerous for melanoma.

Advice: Before going to the seaside, it is advisable to visit an oncologist to find out whether there are melanoma-prone areas on your skin and get advice on how to avoid considerable troubles.

Rumor No. 2: Are women not allowed to sunbathe “topless”?

Contrary to popular belief, the sun's rays do not have any direct effect on breast tissue. The only danger is sunburn of the nipples and areolas (nipple area), which can lead to peeling of the nipple skin, nipple cracks, skin boils and even inflammatory changes in the mammary gland. Burns to the nipples are also common because when tanning topless, the nipples, for obvious reasons, are more often out of the shade.

Advice: cover your nipples while sunbathing.

Rumor No. 3 Does tanning cause mastopathy?

No, of course, tanning cannot cause... However, if mastopathy already exists but is asymptomatic, it may manifest itself after heavy sunbathing. This does not always happen, and is apparently due to the fact that with abundant intense tanning, indirect stimulation of the endocrine organs (thyroid gland, pituitary gland, ovaries) occurs, which can sometimes lead to hormonal imbalance and increase the manifestations of mastopathy.

Advice: Before going to the seaside, visit an oncologist-mammologist and find out if you have mastopathy.

Rumor #4 Does sunbathing cause eye disease?

Yes. This is true. The sun in large doses has an extremely negative effect on the retina of the eye. That is why a person squints his eyes in the sun - this is a reflex developed over thousands of years of evolution.

Advice: Wear quality sunglasses and wide-brimmed hats when sunbathing.

Rumor #5: Are blondes not allowed to sunbathe?

You can sunbathe, but people with fair skin types are actually much more prone to sunburn and, accordingly, melanoma than brunettes and brunettes.

Advice: People with fair skin types need to watch the clock when sunbathing, use skin protection products, and generally be very careful in the sun.

Rumor No. 6 Do umbrellas save you from getting burned?

Unfortunately, it is not. Umbrellas, like the shadow of rare palm trees on the beach, do not provide sufficient protection - scattered ultraviolet radiation will reach you even in the shade of a beach umbrella.

Advice: Don't rely on an umbrella. Watch your watch and use protective equipment.

Rumor No. 7 Can you tan longer if you use sunscreen?

No that's not true. Protective creams allow you to avoid sunburn, and even then not always. Using sunscreen is not a sufficient excuse for wanting to stay in the sun longer.

Advice: Use sunscreen, but don't forget to watch.

Rumor #8 Does tanning speed up aging?

Aging itself is a complex process. And tanning is unlikely to have any effect on the aging of the body as a whole. Solar irradiation only causes a very accurate imitation of skin aging - photoaging (or solar elastosis of the skin).

Advice: after you skip all the previous tips and return from vacation burnt, it makes sense to visit a dermatocosmetologist in order to restore lost skin elasticity.

Rumor No. 9 Is sunbathing safer in the North than in the South?

This is a common misconception. Quite the opposite. There are two frequency types of ultraviolet in the spectrum of sunlight, the so-called UV-A and UV-B.

At the same time, UV-A is longer, less energetic waves that lead to the so-called “fast” tanning. Dosing UV-A radiation is very difficult or impossible. In order to get a tan using UV-A rays, you need to receive a much higher dose than with a similar UV-B tan.

With increasing geographic latitude, the proportion of UV-B rays in solar radiation increases, therefore, in the north there are more UV-A rays. Therefore, in order to get a “northern bottling” tan similar to the southern one, you need to lie on the beach several times longer and, accordingly, receive a large dose of UV-A rays, which is more likely to lead to a sunburn. In addition, under the influence of UV-B, vitamin D3 is produced, which has a protective effect not only on the skin, but also on the mammary gland.

Advice: St. Petersburg is a wonderful city, the cultural capital of our Motherland. But it's better to sunbathe in the south.

Rumor #10 Is it better to sunbathe on cloudy days?

No it's not like that. As mentioned above, there are two frequency types of ultraviolet in sunlight:

  • UV-A, the level of which is practically independent of the weather.
  • UV-B, which is necessary for the formation of vitamin D, which has a protective effect on the skin. Its level actually decreases during cloudy weather.

Based on this information, it is easy to understand that during cloudy weather you can get a burn in the same way.

Advice: No need to spoil your fun. Sunbathe during sunny weather, but be careful.

If you dream of a man with bare chest, this indicates that you need another sexual partner.

If your chest is hairy, in reality you will have to prove your innocence in a matter to which you are indirectly related.

Bare breasts indicate your caring attitude towards one of your colleagues; you must carefully protect your reputation and not give any reason to suspect you of this.

Seeing a chest with a gaping wound in a dream foretells that some kind of trouble is threatening you.

Seeing your breasts means that in reality you will be disappointed in love because of many rivals.

If the breasts are white and full, good luck and happiness will soon visit you.

Firm female breasts are a sign of disadvantage; shrunken and wrinkled breasts are a sign of marital fidelity.

Seeing a woman in a dream whose one of her breasts is cut off means treason; without breasts at all - to quarrels with your husband.

Women who care about their health and try to tan properly often ask questions about topless tanning. This fashion spread not so long ago, but now both on the beaches and in solariums you can often see women sunbathing with their breasts exposed. It is noteworthy that this is practiced not only by young women, but also by those who have crossed a certain age limit. So is topless tanning beneficial or harmful?

Dangers of topless tanning

Perhaps the first thing that should be mentioned when talking about open-top sunbathing is the need to consult a doctor. Let us remind you that women whose relatives have encountered problems with cancer should give up the idea of tanning without a swimsuit top - they may have a genetic predisposition to the occurrence of cancerous tumors, and ultraviolet radiation can provoke their development. However, even if there were no cases of cancer in the family, topless sunbathing is only allowed for young girls no older than 25 years old. Everyone else is strongly recommended to consult a mammologist on this matter in order to avoid unpleasant consequences.

We also note that abuse of ultraviolet rays generally negatively affects the condition of the skin of the face and body. The sun dries out the skin and deprives it of natural moisture, so the aging process accelerates. And breasts are no exception here. Doctors generally advise sunbathing only under dim sun in the morning or evening, because this type of tan is considered the least harmful.

Oncologists also warn that women with moles on their chests should not give up a swimsuit. Strong solar radiation can cause even the most harmless mole to turn into a malignant formation and lead to the appearance of a tumor.

How to sunbathe topless

If a woman does not have any health problems and is used to sunbathing, then topless tanning is not contraindicated. But you should still listen to the advice of gynecologists, who do not recommend that all ladies take off their swimsuits in the second half of the menstrual cycle, when some hormonal changes occur in the breasts.

When sunbathing topless, it is especially important to follow all the rules of sunbathing. It is better to be under the sun's rays early in the morning, before 10-11 o'clock, or in the evening, after 17-00. During the day, it is better to leave the beach altogether or, at least, be in the shade, under a canopy. Never allow your skin to “burn”; use sunscreens with a high protection factor.

In conclusion, we note that tanning, including topless, looks beautiful when it is not abused. Regardless of whether you choose a solarium or prefer natural sunbathing, be moderate and do not overdo it with ultraviolet radiation.
