Ringing decoration made of coins. Unusual use of ordinary coins. Pros of crafts made from coins

Reflections resulted in this post with a lot of photographs - after all, it’s better to see the decorations. The interesting begins with a superficial acquaintance with the etymology of words coin And monisto. It is traditionally believed that a monisto is a necklace made of coins, that is, the history and origin of these words, in theory, should somehow intersect. Word"money"derived from the Latin verbmoneo, monere- "to warn".

However, the origin of the word monista associated with the more ancient Proto-Indo-European "moni" - neck and the Latin "monile" - necklace, horse mane, with ancient Indian "manuā" - back of the head. In gypsy man - neck, in Irish muintorc - necklace, in Gaulish - neck band, in Greek a word also similar in sound means necklace. So I wouldn’t be surprised if it turns out that the word “coin” came from monists and necklaces, and not vice versa, as is usually perceived. Moreover, the concepts "beads" And " necklaces" older than money and there is nothing unusual about this; ancient jewelry often served as money.

The necklaces may have been something like a wallet - after all, there were necklaces made of cowrie shells, which simultaneously served as monetary units and talismans. It is known that ancient Russian princes sometimes paid their retinue with “grivnas”, which they also wore around their necks as decorations. In accordance with the metal and weight, the hryvnia had certain standards and a specific value. By the way, wearing valuables around the neck had a certain meaning for their more reliable safety during difficulties in sea voyages, military campaigns, nomadism and in general in any movements with money. As they say, I carry everything I own with me and in the safest place. And now tourists strive to put money and documents in a small handbag and hang it around their neck. Jewelry in the form of coins was very common in ancient times, and even now interest in them has not disappeared.

As for the word "money"I’ll add that the translation from Latin is frommoneo, monere- “to warn” may be associated with the Roman goddess Juno, wife of Jupiter, in whose temple in Rome the ancient mint was located. Perhaps this meaning of the word arose from divination rituals in the temple and was transferred to the meaning of the word “coin”. Fortune telling in Greece and Rome was called mantika, and the word “mantle” comes from the same word.

By the way, monistos and decorations made from coins are quite modern and relevant. Especially in a number of ethnic styles, as well as in Boho Chic, Bohemia, Gypsy, Trible (Boho, Bohemia, Gipsy, Tribal), and you can wear them just like that, without any style. Boho Chic appeared in the 90s of the last century, and then flourished at the beginning of this century, thanks to model Kate Moss and actress Sienna Miller. This is such a mixture of bohemia, hippies and gypsies, when they wear lace and rough boots with thick soles at the same time - by the way, they are very comfortable in real life. Gipsy is “gypsy”, also a kind of style of free artists. However, coins fit into a variety of jewelry options.

For example, I like to collect coins from different countries I’ve been to and hang them everywhere. By the way, there are a lot of superstitions associated with money - do you happen to have a dollar folded into a triangle in your wallet? IN I'm not superstitious about money. True, I believe that money has its own energy and it is undesirable to “spend it” to the last penny. Although in the hope that some money will attract others, there is an element of pagan magic - like is attracted (treated) by like. But money magic is a separate and big topic; now we are talking about something else.

Modern decoration with coins

Coins have been used in jewelry since ancient times. In the quite foreseeable written past, for example, the records of the famous traveler Fadlan, who visited Volga Bulgaria, are known. Among other things, he left a description of the attire of Russian women: “On their necks they have several rows of monistas made of gold and silver...”. Wearing necklaces of this type was common among different peoples - the Volga Bulgars, Tatars, Armenians, Greeks. Until now, these ancient jewelry appears in both Asian and European women's costumes, for example, in Serbia, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Romania and others. Well, everyone knows about the gypsy monists - this is practically their symbol.Word and decoration"monisto"known in Old Slavic and Russian, in Ukrainian it was callednamisto, in Kuban until recently they were called a colorful word - intentionally. Studying this topic may well hold many surprises.

Beads with coin pendants

And now a little history. Here is a small selection of Byzantine gold coin jewelry found

Pectoral of their coins and gold pseudo-medallion, Byzantium, 539-550

Discovered in Egypt, near Lycopolis, it is located in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. A large medallion is an imitation, made of two gold leaves, with the inscription on it: “Lord, help him who wears (this).” The coins are real, the oldest were made under Emperor Theodosius II, the earlier ones - under Justinian I. Gold solidi, a couple of semimissi at the bottom

This necklace was accidentally found in 1893 near Anapa - a gold solidus from the period of the joint reign of Justin I and Justinian I was inserted into its clasp. It is stored in the Hermitage. Under Justinian I, gold coins were used especially actively in jewelry.

Jewelers sometimes replaced coins with minted imitation on a thin sheet, as in this 6th century necklace found in Asia Minor on the site of the ancient city of Zephyrion. 2 pendants imitate Justinian's solidi. The figure of an Angel with a cross on the “reverse” and the mintmark CONOB denotes the gold standard of the mint of Constantinople. Located in the Hermitage.

The bracelet from the Cyprus Museum in Nicosia uses a solidus from the joint reign of Justin II and Tiberius Constantine in 578.

This gold belt was found in 1902 in Cyprus. Contains 4 large medallions of the Emperor Tiberius of Mauritius, presumably minted for distribution to courtiers in 583 in honor of Mauritius's accession to the office of consul. Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York

The coin inserted into the frame could be part of a chain - as in the case of Justinian's solidi.

Solidus of Emperor Roman in a modern frame

Both silver miliarias and Arabic dirhams were used as decorations; they are especially often found in women's graves.There are simple copper scyphate coins with frames or rings, and holes in gold histamenons XII are very common. They chose different sides to carry coins. For example, when choosing sides with the emperor, the image of Christ or the Virgin Mary turned out to be upside down. Someone wisely chose the obverse and wore the coin on his chest as a medallion. The presence of a hole in a coin reduces its collectible value.

Viking bracteates depicting Odin found

The study of jewelry with coins is closely intertwined with numismatics, in this regard, I will mention another type of jewelry coins - bracteate the period of the great migration of peoples. In general, a bracteate is a coin minted on one side only, usually from a thinner sheet of metal than ordinary coins, translated from Latin bractea- "tinny". Silver and gold bracteates are more common. They were made (= were in fashion) in the 5th-7th centuries, had a loop for wearing and were used as amulets. Most often they depicted a human head or a full-length person; the head and animal often symbolized the Scandinavian god Odin; the image of a triskelion (three legs from one point, running in a circle) was also common.

The monists also reflected ancient beliefs about the cleansing power of the sound of a bell (in a more pronounced form, this is manifested in the ringing of bells). Among the oldest decorations there are many bells, “ringers” and “noisemakers”. Monisto fit very organically into this tradition - it was not only about the value of money and jewelry, there was also a spiritual background, according to which it was believed that the ringing of jewelry was pleasing to the gods and drove away evil spirits.

Found interesting photos in the community poltava , at the exhibition of ancient women's folk jewelry in the spiritual center of Paisius Velichkovsky at the Holy Dormition Cathedral in Poltava. The exhibition shows Monista and Dukach, who were also called lichman or yagnus,- jewelry made from one coin. Dukach is a coin decorated with a bow and stones, which was worn on a cord or not on a ribbon. This decoration was especially common in the 18th-20th centuries.on the Left Bank, Chernihiv region, Poltava region, Slobozhanshchina. The name comes from the name of the coin - ducat. The coin was worn as an element of beads or separately, with ears attached to the coin. Austrian ducats were especially common, but rubles, hryvnias, chervonets, thalers, etc. were also worn. Dukach was often a family ornament and was passed down from generation to generation.

Maybe coral beads in combination with a coin were some kind of classical decoration, so the name “monisto” was transferred to beads with coins? In Polabian (a now extinct language), a word close to monists is translated as coral. By the way, Polabian is a West Slavic language spoken by the Slavs living in what is now South Saxony.

The ancient Hutsul zgardas used balls, discs or crosses. Large red corals imported from France and Italy were very popular. The red color of corals was believed to have magical protective properties. The festive costume of wealthy Hutsul women of the 17th and 18th centuries could contain up to several tens of kilograms of jewelry around the neck. This is a coral necklace in several rows, glass patties, pieces of silver and wide strips of beads. Shelesty, a necklace of metal bells, was also popular.

Belly dance (belly dance)

A comparison inevitably arises between belly dancing, Indian temple dances and gypsy dances - in all cases, the “ringing” of decorations matters. That's how many peoples wore monista - and the gypsy ones are most remembered, probably because of the dances in which gypsy dancers could make them ring so effectively. In my deep conviction, all these dances arose from the art of the priestesses of temples dedicated to the ancient Mother Goddess, a cult characteristic of all peoples in ancient times.

Well, if you’re going to wear jewelry made from coins, then it wouldn’t hurt to take a couple of belly dance lessons. They say it helps you get rid of extra pounds :)) You can do it right now and here

Coins are a good material for making various DIY crafts. Strength and absolutely correct shape ensures this material is widely popular among real homemade ones. In addition, coins can have different sizes and shapes, which also provides opportunities for flights of fancy.

1) Probably the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the phrase “Crafts from coins” is coin tree. Making it yourself is not as difficult as it might seem at first glance. The main thing is to be sure that everything will work out for you. As they say: “The eyes fear, but the hands do.” First you need to choose the most brilliant coins from your wallet. Then you should drill small holes in the center of the round timber so that the wire can be threaded through them. The money tree fruits are ready. Now you need to weave a trunk and branches from ordinary (it’s better to take copper) wire. The trunk is thicker, the branches are thinner - everything is simple. Now you should hang fruits in the form of coins on the improvised branches. Such a tree is said to bring good luck and profit to the home.

2) To do box of coins You will need a lot of little things that will serve as a frame and a decorative element at the same time. There are two ways to make such a homemade product with your own hands. First, you can use a ready-made box as a frame, which you can simply cover with coins. But we will go the other way - we will completely make the craft from coins. You need to lay out the coins in towers, gluing them together. This way you will line the walls of the box. To lay out the bottom, you should glue one coin to another in the form of scales. I forgot to say that you can use regular super glue to attach coins to each other.

Glue the bottom to the walls and the frame is ready. Now all that remains is to make a lid for our box. Here you will still need a base - you can take an unnecessary lid from any box that is suitable in size, and simply cover it with coins. The craft is almost ready, now it needs to be lightly coated with gold paint and varnish. Brilliant work!

3) Frame of coins much easier to make than a shiny box. You need to cut out a rectangle with wide walls from durable cardboard. Only the dimensions of these walls (in thickness) should not be much larger than the dimensions of the coins, so that the frame does not turn out to be too heavy. Glue one coin to another like scales. The photo should be placed at the back of the frame. But if you want the photo to be able to be changed, you will have to make a simple mechanism. For example, you can glue guide strips from the same cardboard.

4) And to make such a homemade product - coin ring, you need to be a true master of your craft. This is a real work of art (by the way, quite a worthwhile one). I can’t tell you HOW you can do this with your own hands because I’m unlikely to succeed even in something similar. But there is always something to strive for.))

It turns out that it won’t be difficult for a woman not only to make a salad and make a scandal out of nothing, but also to find a way to adapt any little thing, turning it, at a minimum, into a funny souvenir. These can be the notorious plastic bottles, burnt-out light bulbs, and plastic bags. The latest trend is coin crafts.

You can build an owl like this out of coins. The base can be purchased at a store that sells handmade materials.
What do you think of this penny portrait of Sherlock?
A goldfish made from coins should bring financial success to your home.

In fact, coins in jewelry and souvenirs are not a new thing at all. Remember the gypsy monistos, created from many tiers of coins of different denominations. They also decorated the edges of scarves, and during dances they jingled cheerfully in time with the movements of the dancer. Various pendants, keychains, and talismans were made from coins. Recently, various Chinese trinkets such as money trees, souvenir toads and gods sitting on coin deposits have been revived. It is believed that this is not only cute, but also very symbolic, as it accompanies the material well-being of the owner of such a toy. Who knows, maybe Feng Shui will work, but at least it certainly won’t get worse. But a funny souvenir made from coins, and even made with your own hands, will certainly please the eye. And the process of making it can be an excellent relaxer. Working with coins and other little things can be so captivating that it will become a real outlet in a world of bustle, eternal haste and endless problems. You only have to try it once! Moreover, souvenirs made from coins made with your own hands, with your soul put into them, can be a wonderful gift for a birthday or a wedding of friends.

Using coins of different shapes and colors, you can achieve the effect of a play of light in a picture of coins.
Having pasted it onto a canvas, it would be a good idea to hang such a picture in your home and it will bring financial success.
For the Olympics in London they laid out this mosaic of stumps.
The pennies were laid out in several layers.

Where can I get coins? And stale piggy banks, and compartments of women's handbags, wallets or pockets littered with small change, and Soviet rarities lying around unnecessarily, stored just in case! Or maybe this is exactly the case? So, let’s clear out all the stash and get to work!

If you have enough coins, you can decorate the walls with them!
Coins in the interior will look even better than Italian tiles. Some hotels make walls out of coins.
Old furniture can be decorated with coins and varnished.

The first, simplest option is to make an original souvenir that will serve as a real talisman that will attract financial well-being and good luck to you. To make it, you need to prepare some voluminous object with smooth lines, for example, an old vase, jug or even a simple bottle. You will also need plasticine and a lot of small coins - preferably they are of the same denomination. Penny coins are best suited; due to their small size, the souvenir will look more subtle and elegant. The manufacturing process is like this DIY coin crafts simple to the point of primitiveness. To begin with, a thin layer of plasticine is evenly applied over the surface of a vase or other object that you decide to work with, and then coins are attached one row after another according to the principle of scales - from the bottom of the vessel to the top. In this case, you need to carefully monitor the distance between the rows, avoiding too wide gaps. If the coins are of different denominations and qualities, then you will have to sort them before starting work, separating the newest and shiny coins, especially pleasing to your eye, to decorate the top of the dishes.

An old vase that has been remade will shine with new colors.
For the vase, it is better to choose bright shiny new coins or clean off old ones. Cover the vase with black varnish or paint and glue the coins. You can use Moment glue for iron and porcelain.
Don't forget to ventilate the room. The glue is toxic.
This is the vase we got. Looks very solid, doesn't it?

The largest and dullest coins should be placed at the bottom of the vase. If the object to which the plasticine with money layers is attached is too large in size, then coins of different colors and denominations will look very appropriate on it. For example, from white and yellow metal you can form real patterns over the entire surface. Nothing limits your imagination here. After completing the work, the finished craft must be protected from darkening of coins and dust by covering it with several layers of transparent varnish. After the varnish has dried, you will get a beautiful work of art that will make you proud of yourself: after all, you created a real masterpiece with your own hands!

To make this ring, we used two one-cent coins and a two-cent coin (the base).
To work you will need: nail polish, a base ring and three coins.
Paint two coins with nail polish and glue them together like we did.
The coins will also make wonderful earrings.

funny coin crafts can be obtained using a minimum of tools: a drill with a thin drill bit or superglue. The simplest option is a pendant: if you drill two thin holes at the bottom and top of the coin, you can assemble such a decoration of any volume and shape.

This is the kind of money waterfall that skillful hands can produce.
We will need a glue gun or just a tube of glue, coins of different denominations, a fork and a cup and saucer for work.
Bend the fork like this.
As you understand, the fork is the basis of our money waterfall.
Glue the fork to the saucer and wait until the glue dries.
Now glue the cup to the fork.
Then build the waterfall itself from coins.

You can make a desktop souvenir from coins glued together in the shape of a tower or pyramid. And if you collect ordinary beads, in which coins from different materials alternate, and fasten them, for example, with wire rings, and even put them on a chain, you will get not just a necklace, but a real necklace. Using the principle of a vase covered with coins from the option proposed above, you can turn a simple flower pot into a luxurious flowerpot. Let's go further: the aged lampshade of your favorite table lamp will sparkle with vibrant, updated colors if you decorate it with the same strings of coin beads. The basis for their fastening is several wire rings.

You can make such a beautiful table out of coins.
To work, choose an old table, paint it, update it.
Start gluing the coins to the middle of the tabletop.
Glue the coins tightly.
This is how we turned out to decorate the table.
Cover the slot with a layer of varnish or silicone.
The table can be used both outdoors and in the house - it turned out very beautiful for us. If you have accumulated a lot of coins of different denominations and countries, then you can make a picture like this.
Glue the coins to the glass and place them in the frame. Job is done!
Such a picture can be presented to a guest from another country.

This is how, penny by penny, real ones are created souvenirs made from coins. And they don’t cost as much as the number of coins attached to them. Their artistic value is much more expensive than the combined value of the individual components. After all, both the pricelessness of the author’s idea and the work itself are simply incomparable. A striking example of this is the small sculptures of American artist Stacey Lee Webber, created from one-cent coins.

At the most prestigious vernissages and auctions, works of various arts are bought for money. But the bills and coins themselves also become so, for example, in the works of artists Jacqueline Lou Skaggs and Vander Martic, who create small sculptures from the smallest coins. They depict anything: tools of labor - hammers and saws, figures of different people in any life situations, and abstract things.

It turns out that thanks to such an inconspicuous little thing that has no special value like a coin, any of us can not only create a funny trinket, a nice gift, a symbolic souvenir, but also join in high art.

Crafts from coins photo

Women's jewelry has long been made from coins.
Even stars wear them. For example, we noticed Selena Gomez wearing this.

Crafts made from coins have long been considered one of the most common types of home crafts. This is due to the fact that a large amount of unnecessary little things sometimes accumulate in the house, which can be put into use by making various accessories and souvenirs from it. At the same time, you will not only spend your free time usefully, but also keep funds in reserve, because they will retain all the properties of the payment currency.

Crafts made from coins are very popular these days.

Pros of crafts made from coins

DIY coin crafts have become quite popular recently for a variety of wines. So, if earlier work with money was entrusted to jewelers or blacksmiths, who could make a monisto or a necklace from coins, now anyone can make products from them. This is due to the fact that metal money has become available to most people, and not just wealthy citizens, and also to the fact that handmade goods have become fashionable, which uses any suitable objects to create various crafts.

Experienced handmade masters name the following advantages of working with coins:

  • availability of thin coins;
  • ease of working with metal;
  • the ability, if necessary, to use coins as a payment weapon;
  • durability of souvenirs created from them.

Attention! Coin crafts are usually made from thin coins, which are rarely used in making payments.

So, so, crafts from 10-kopeck coins are made from various coins of the corresponding denominations, which are no longer in circulation, or are in limited circulation. This is money from the USSR stage or the 90s of the last century. At the same time, most householders have a reserve of such small items at home, since they are not always in demand in stores. As a result, this little thing is easy to access and can be used to create homemade items.

Coin crafts help attract physical well-being

Souvenirs made from coins are also good because they are durable. The thing is that money is usually made from metal that is little susceptible to corrosion. Naturally, products made from it will serve you for a long time, and in order to restore their pleasant appearance, you just need to clean them until they shine. In addition, metal can be easily processed even by a novice craftsman, which opens up a wide range of possibilities.

Crafts made from coins can be used as an ordinary means of payment.

Also, money crafts made from coins are good because, if necessary, they can be used as a regular means of payment. To do this, you need to leave the coin itself intact or damage it minimally. By the way, in ancient times, jewelry was specially made from coins in order to be able to pay for food with them in case of need.

It is worth mentioning separately about this direction of this type of handmade, such as feng shui. According to his principles, if you want to attract material well-being, you need to decorate the premises using banknotes and coins. So, a money tree is created from them, or they are fixed on the walls of the room and on the surface of the furniture.

Images of crafts made from coins

Coin crafts come in a variety of forms. This is due both to their practical use and to the technology used to manufacture such products. If we divide these crafts according to the principle of utilitarian use, then there are accessories and gifts made from coins, as well as decorative elements made from them. If the former can be used in everyday life, for example, in the form of buttons or fasteners, then the latter are especially needed to satisfy aesthetic needs, for example, for finishing furniture.

As for the methods of making the above-mentioned products, the same craft from penny coins can be made by weaving. To do this, 2 holes are made in a coin-like shape through which a fishing line or wire is passed. The result is strands, from which you can then weave a bracelet or necklace. Such a cord can be decorated with beads or beads, as a result of which it will only become more beautiful.

The second way to make homemade coins is to create a mosaic from them. It can be made by placing money on plasticine, glue or special mastic. This method can be used to decorate furniture, household items, and interior items. In addition, experienced artists can create a real picturesque panel from coins.

Decorating a paint vase with coins is very simple.

The third main method, with the support of which you can make crafts from coins, is to use them as an improvised material for jewelry, plumbing or blacksmithing. For example, coins can be used to decorate metal flasks, dishes, and weapons. In addition, they can be used to make a memorial sign with a directive of the name, emblem and image of a person. Naturally, such products can only be made by an experienced craftsman.

Crafts made from coins are often presented at weddings.

It is worth noting! Crafts made from coins and banknotes are often presented at weddings as a symbol of the financial well-being of a young family.

Here the imagination can play out very widely, but the most loose option is the so-called money tree. In addition, rings and earrings are often made from gold coins; they are supposed to bring money to the newlyweds.

As for the unusual ways of using coins, they have recently been used to decorate tabletops, make coasters for hot food, and decorate the floor. It all depends on your taste and, of course, financial status. The fact is that coins are still money, so only wealthy people can widely use them in interior design, of course. you do not have a stock of retired banknotes at home.

How to make a money tree?

If you are allowed to make crafts, your first product could be a money tree made from coins. In order to create such a tree, you will need:

  • PVA glue;
  • approximately 100 coins;
  • sackcloth;
  • heat gun;
  • picture frame;
  • acrylic paints, brush and sponge.

Attention! A money tree is a fairly simple homemade product, but if you decide to professionally make crafts from coins with your own hands, it makes sense for you to attend a master class on this topic.

Usually at such events they talk about the intricacies of making a particular product and demonstrate particularly complex technical calculations.

As for the money tree itself, for the base you will need to glue burlap onto the cardboard base of the picture frame. Next, strips 1-1.5 cm wide are cut from a three-layer napkin folded in half. The barrel of a tree will be made from them in the future.

To do this, take one strip, unfold it and divide it in half so that it can be twisted more conveniently. After this, holding it at one end, the strip is placed in water. As a result, it becomes soft, and it can be very easily rolled into a flagellum, following the example of products made from plasticine. In this case, twisting must be done in one direction at an angle of 45 °.

There are some difficulties encountered when making a money tree.

After the consumables are ready, you need to find a sketch of the future money tree or its image. This can be done easily on the Internet by asking in the search bar the question of how to make crafts from coins and photos of such crafts. Based on such a sketch, the application is made. To do this, the finished flagella are glued onto burlap using PVA glue according to a sketch planned in advance.

A bright beaded money tree with coins will amuse your eyes every day

After the wood is glued, it will need to be dried. Next, you need to take a heat gun and, with its support, glue the coins onto the burlap. First, they are glued along the contour of the crown, formed with flagella from a napkin, and then they fill all the spaces of the panel. Glue drips are removed with a coarse brush, and the product is left to dry.

To make the tree look very impressive, you need to make several layers of coins

After drying, the craft is painted black using acrylic paints. Then the coins are shaded a little with bronze paint. After the glue and paint have dried, the finished money tree is inserted into the frame, and it can be presented to the newlyweds at the wedding.

A money tree made of coins in a “vintage” frame looks very attractive

Crafts from coins of 10 kopecks

Another common type of money crafts are crafts made from 10 kopeck coins. This is due to the fact that this coin has low circulation, so its reserves often accumulate in the apartments of Russians, since not every trading enterprise in the distance agrees to accept them for payment in large numbers. But they make excellent coin crafts, for example, decorated bottles.

Attention! When starting to make such crafts from 10-kopeck coins with your own hands, first of all, prepare a suitable container for yourself.

So, a bottle for such a homemade product can have almost any shape, but it will be better when its surface allows coins to be placed on it easily. You will need old tights - they are used to make a kind of tube and a zipper 15 cm long.

Crafts made from 10 kopeck coins are loose

If you have never made crafts from coins with your own hands before, you should study photos of such a process. To decorate the bottle, you will first need to pull a pre-prepared nylon tube onto the container and, slightly draping it, make a cut for the zipper. It is better to make such a cut a little obliquely.

Golden apple made from coins is a great gift

Next, the zipper is placed at the edges of the cut and attached to the nylon using a hot glue gun. As a result, when unbuttoned, a small pocket should form. The subsequent operation will be impregnation of nylon with glue. After you soak it with PVA, you will need to leave the workpiece to dry overnight.

Crafts made from coins are aimed at attracting good luck

The next stage is painting the bottle with steel or black paint from an aerosol can. Next, the workpiece will again have to dry for 5-6 hours. Afterwards, you will again need to pick up the heat gun and glue ten-kopeck coins into the previously created pocket. To give them a nice appearance, they are painted with bronze or silver paint. The final finishing of such a craft will be coating it with varnish.

You can decorate other items in a similar manner. In addition, crafts made from coins with a denomination of 10 kopecks are made using the beadwork technique. This is due to the fact that such coins have a small diameter and therefore go well with beads. Thus, they are actively used in the process of making bracelets, necklaces and chokers. To do this, they make 2 holes into which a fishing line or silicone thread is threaded for weaving. At the same time, some experienced craftsmen manage to weave real dresses from threads with coins.

Simple crafts

If you have the desire, but don’t have enough experience, you can start with the simplest craft options.

Such a pyramid is very easy to make: you just need to glue together individual rows first: 3 rows of 5 coins, 3 rows of 4, 3 rows of 3, 3 rows of 2 and the very top is crowned with a structure of 3 coins on each side.

Making a box is simple, but in terms of time this process can be called protracted. You will need to glue together many columns of small items, and then use them to create any geometric shape you want (circle, rectangle, square, heart). The lid of the box can be made flat, or, as in the photo, you can glue the material, creating a three-dimensional look.

Any vase or jug can be refreshed with the help of old and new coins (pre-cleaned) glued to them. And then these items will sparkle in a new way in the interior of the apartment.

If you have collected a sufficient number of metal monetary units, then replace the old or tired upholstery of any furniture with a new and shiny one.

Children will be delighted with their favorite cartoon character made on cardboard, first with a pencil sketch, and then with the help of glue, coins and colored cardboard.

In the old days, jewelry made from zlotys had a double meaning: they were worn not only for beauty, but also so that in difficult times it would be possible to pay for food. Nowadays such pendants are worn by adherents of the boho style and gypsy motifs. Moreover, everyone can make such pendants, bracelets and earrings with their own hands.

Coin Tree

The most popular type of crafts made from coins is the money tree, which should bring financial success to the person in whose house it is located.

To get started, prepare:

  • burlap;
  • coins in large quantities (any coins that are in the house, but preferably of the same size or denomination);
  • PVA glue;
  • glue gun;
  • sponge, brush, acrylic paints;
  • photo frame;
  • 3-layer napkin;
  • scissors.

When starting work, take burlap and cover the cardboard component of the photo frame with it using glue. From the prepared napkin, cut strips a little less than 2 cm wide for the future trunk. To make it, take one of the strips, unfold it and divide it into 2 parts (for more comfortable rolling), then quickly dip it in water to soften it and twist it with a flagellum. Make movements strictly in one direction at an angle of 45 °.

At this stage, you need to find any sketch you like on the Internet (or a craft magazine). It's good if you did this a little earlier. Looking at the selected photo, you should recreate it as closely as possible in your craft. Glue the paper flagella to the burlap in a certain order, achieving the exact shape of the trunk and branches.

After gluing all the tissue material, leave the work for a while so that the glue dries completely. After some time, use a heat gun to place 50-100 coins on the burlap. First, the contour of the crown is “outlined” with metal pennies, and after that the rest of the space is filled. Coins can also be glued on top of each other to visually increase the volume of the “leaves”.

Advice! Make sure that the coin crown turns out beautiful and lush, otherwise a meager number of coins will not be able to recreate the beautiful appearance of the tree.

If the glue has left marks on the burlap, they can be removed with a stiff brush. Only after this the application must be dried.

When everything has dried, acrylic paints are applied to the entire craft, and then the coins can also be treated with bronze paint. After this is done, leave the semi-finished product to dry again. When the time is up, insert the result of the work into the frame. In this form, the craft is quite suitable as a gift for any event.
