Oily hair: basics of proper care, homemade masks and rinses. Oily hair care

Unbalanced nutrition, stress and overload, hormonal problems - all these are the reasons for increased oily hair. Wearing a hat further aggravates the problem: under the hat, normal ventilation is disrupted, the head easily overheats, sweats, and the skin glands begin to work with redoubled force. Therefore, the roots of the hair under the cap become greasy very quickly. Moreover, hormonal storms in the body of the expectant mother add fuel to the fire.

Why do you need this sebum at all? It is simply necessary in reasonable quantities. This is a natural lubricant that protects hair from breakage, gives it shine and elasticity, and maintains a healthy scalp. But when too much of it is produced, it becomes a real problem. Let's try to compile a list of ways to properly care for oily hair that will help cope with this unpleasant feature of our body.

Oily hair: a special approach

1. The “correct” shampoo. It is very important to choose a shampoo that is suitable for your hair. Try a shampoo for oily hair. But it may very well be that shampoo for normal hair will suit you. The thing is that under the cap the hair roots become greasy quite quickly. But the ends that stick out from under the cap, on the contrary, become dry from frost. And here it is very important to maintain a balance between degreasing and hydration. A too-aggressive “degreasing” shampoo can dry out your skin and hair, resulting in an even more oily scalp. Give preference to soft, high-quality products intended for daily use. Shampoos with extracts of medicinal plants are good for oily hair: horsetail, nettle, calamus, coltsfoot.

2. Regular care. If you have oily hair, it is important to wash your hair regularly. You can often hear the opinion that frequent washing is undesirable, that it will only increase the oiliness of the skin and hair. You really need to set your own schedule and wash your hair as needed. Frequently washing your hair is much less harmful for an expectant mother than being in a bad mood from contemplating your not-so-pretty hairstyle. In addition, secreted sebum is an excellent breeding ground for bacteria. And from this point of view, it is also better to wash your hair more often than less often.

Another important point is the water temperature. Don't wash your hair with too hot water, no matter how much you want to warm up in the shower. Hot water stimulates the sebaceous glands located in the skin, and they begin to work with even greater intensity. Use warm water and rinse your hair with cool water at the end. Also, rinse your hair thoroughly to remove any remaining shampoo.

3. Balms? Very careful! If your scalp is prone to oily hair, use balms and conditioners with caution, and only those recommended for oily hair. Oily hair has enough of its own lubricant, so there is no need to lubricate it additionally. If you do use conditioner, apply it only to the ends, avoiding the roots of your hair. And, of course, thoroughly rinse off any products applied to your hair. After all, their remains are additional pollution and weight of the hair.

4. Dry your hair correctly. It turns out that this is important too! If you tend to get oily, don't rub your hair too intensely. This “massage” additionally stimulates the sebaceous glands to secrete even more fat. Dry your hair with gentle blotting movements using a soft towel.

5. No gels! Try not to use gels to style your hair. They weigh down the hair and give it a greasy look. And this “joy” is enough for us even without the gel. It is better to use a light styling mousse: beat a small amount of foam in your palms and apply to your hair, lifting it slightly.

6. Hair dryer? Better without him. It is best to avoid blow-drying your hair if possible. If you still need to style it, dry your hair partially in the air, and then finish drying it with a hairdryer. When drying, try to use cool rather than hot air and do not direct a hot stream of air at the hair roots.

7. Secrets of combing. Oily hair should not be combed too often. Since they begin to become oily from the roots, by running a comb through the hair, we distribute sebum from the root of the hair along the entire length. As a result, hair becomes dirty much faster. For the same reason, the habit of constantly touching your hair with your hands, scratching your head, or running your fingers over the skin is harmful.

8. Eat right. The functioning of the sebaceous glands is influenced not only by external influences, but also by how we eat. It is especially important for an expectant mother to monitor her diet. This will also have a positive effect on the condition of your hair. The functioning of the skin glands is negatively affected by fatty, fried, sweet and overly spicy foods. Flour products in the diet should also be limited. But eat more fresh vegetables, fruits, berries, and nuts. Dried fruits are also useful: dried apricots, prunes, raisins, dates. After consultation with your doctor, you can supplement your diet with a balanced vitamin and mineral complex.

9. The importance of water. It is important to monitor not only a healthy diet, but also your drinking regime. If there are no contraindications, drink more water. Not juices or compotes, but clean drinking water. Water not only cleanses the body and removes toxins from it, but also makes the scalp and hair healthy.

10. Oil masks. As paradoxical as it may sound, oil masks are good for caring for oily hair. Basic oils are suitable for such masks: grape seed, coconut, almond, sesame. You can also use essential oils, but be careful with them: some are contraindicated during pregnancy. Among the permitted ones are lemon, lemon balm, cedar, pine, and cypress oils. It is better to exclude eucalyptus, mint and sage oils. For masks, mix a couple of drops of essential oil with any carrier oil. You can also use base oils in their pure form. Lightly heat the mixture in a water bath and rub the warm oil into your scalp. Place a plastic bag on your hair and leave the mask on for 40–60 minutes. After this, rinse your hair thoroughly with shampoo. It is recommended to carry out such procedures once a week.

11. Henna. This is not only a coloring matter. It is also one of the best natural hair strengthening products. Henna dries out your hair and scalp. Therefore, it suits us perfectly. Mix colorless henna (it does not color hair, but only heals) with a glass of natural yogurt. Apply to hair before washing and leave on for 15-30 minutes. It is useful to do this mask twice a week.

12. Magic aloe. The medicinal plant aloe vera, which is often grown on windowsills, is an excellent remedy for oily hair. If you don’t have such a plant at home, you can buy aloe juice at the pharmacy. Take 150 ml of shampoo that suits you, add a tablespoon of lemon juice and a teaspoon of aloe juice (freshly squeezed or from the pharmacy). You can wash your hair with this healthy shampoo every day. The mixture can be stored in the refrigerator for a week.

13. Herbal rinses. After washing your hair, it is useful to rinse your hair with herbal decoctions. For oily hair, rosemary, linden blossom, oak bark, and nettle are suitable. You can brew the herbs separately or make a mixture of several. To prepare the decoction, pour two tablespoons of dry herb with a glass of boiling water and leave in a sealed container for 20 minutes. Rinse your hair with the cooled and strained solution after washing. This is the best natural hair conditioner!

14. Beer rinses. Not only beer, but also other alcohol-containing drinks dry out the scalp and make hair shiny. But beer also contains a lot of useful substances, especially B vitamins. You can rinse your hair with beer every time after washing. This method of combating oily hair was used by our grandmothers. Mix half a glass of beer with two glasses of warm water and rinse your hair after washing. There is no need to rinse your hair with water after this.

15. Medicinal vinegar. Another remedy for combating oily scalp also came to us from our grandmothers. (There are products that have been around for many, many years, but they “work” no worse than modern supernova developments in the cosmetic industry.) We are talking about the most ordinary vinegar. It is able to dry and heal the scalp. Mix two tablespoons of vinegar with a glass of water. Rinse damp hair after washing with the mixture, and then rinse with warm water. Natural apple cider vinegar is no less beneficial for hair. Mix it with water in a ratio of 1:4 and massage your scalp with this mixture. Leave the vinegar on your hair for 5-10 minutes and then rinse your hair thoroughly with warm water. Such procedures can be done in courses of 7–10 days.

16. Wonderful lemon. Lemon juice has a drying effect similar to vinegar. It just smells much nicer and is much more refreshing. Therefore, let’s try the miraculous power of lemon on our hair. It can be used in different ways. For example, like this. Squeeze the juice of two lemons, mix it with two glasses of distilled water and store the mixture in the refrigerator. After you have washed your hair and patted it thoroughly with a towel, massage the liquid into your scalp. Rinse off after 5 minutes. You can do it differently. Cut a lemon in half and rub the half over your scalp before washing. After 10–15 minutes, wash your hair as usual. It is useful to do such procedures once a week.

17. Helper tea. Tea leaves contain tannins, which have an astringent property and dry out oily skin. For the procedure you will need black loose leaf tea. Brew a tablespoon of tea with a glass of boiling water, let the tea brew well, cool and apply to the scalp before washing. After 10–15 minutes, wash your hair with shampoo. For greater benefits, you can add oak bark to the tea brew.

18. Egg mask. Egg yolk contains cholesterol, which appears to help reduce sebum production. Therefore, egg masks are very useful for oily hair. Mix one egg yolk thoroughly with a teaspoon of vodka and a teaspoon of water. Rub the mixture into your scalp, wrap your head in a towel and hold for 10-15 minutes. Then wash your hair with shampoo. You can do this procedure 2-3 times a week.

19. Oatmeal mask. Regular oatmeal contains a lot of useful substances: trace elements, vitamins, antioxidants. In addition, oatmeal perfectly absorbs oil and soothes irritated scalp. How to make a useful healing mask from it? Very simple. Pour a little warm milk into the small oat flakes, allowing them to swell.

You can add a few drops of vegetable oil and vitamins A and E in the form of oil solutions (sold at the pharmacy) to the “porridge”. Apply the mask to your head, cover with film and a towel and leave for 20 minutes. Then wash your hair with shampoo.

20. Baking soda. Recently, there has been a lot of talk about the benefits of baking soda for “alkalinizing” the body. It turns out that it can also help in the fight against oily hair. But you need to use soda carefully - it is a rather aggressive substance. Dissolve two or three teaspoons of baking soda in a liter of warm water and rinse your hair and scalp. After 20 minutes, wash your hair. You can use such rinses 2-3 times a week.

21. Mask with starch. Potato starch has long been known as a drying agent. We will also use these properties. To prepare the mask, dilute 2 tablespoons of starch with warm water, add 1 teaspoon of honey (if you are not allergic to honey). Apply the mixture to the scalp and then distribute it over the entire length of the hair. Leave for 40 minutes, rinse with warm water. After such a mask, your hair will not only look drier and healthier. Starch gives hair extra volume and makes it more manageable.

22. Baby powder. It happens that our hair does not look very neat due to increased oil content and we urgently need to put it in order, but there is no time to fully wash our hair. Let's use a simple, safe and effective method. Apply a little baby powder to the roots of your hair, leave it on for a couple of minutes, and then comb your hair thoroughly with a brush, removing any remaining powder. The powder quickly absorbs excess oil, giving your hair extra fullness and volume. Instead of powder, you can also use flour or potato starch. Now there are special dry shampoos that act on the same principle.

Oily hair often leads women to despair and causes them a lot of inconvenience because it quickly becomes dirty and looks greasy and stale by the end of the day, even if it was washed in the morning. However, experts urge not to be upset and claim that caring for them is much easier than dry ones, which are also often brittle and weakened.

Moreover, oily hair, due to its increased fat content, has a huge advantage over dry hair, because it, like oily skin, is perfectly protected from adverse external influences with the help of natural lubricant.

Most often, oily hair is given to a person by nature, and nothing can be done about it. But this also has its advantages: oily skin ages much more slowly, and dry, brittle hair with split ends sometimes looks much worse than oily skin and is more difficult to care for. Oily hair is better supplied with nutrients, it is well protected from the aggressive external environment, so it splits much less and looks thicker.

There are many homemade masks and remedies that will help reduce oily hair, make it healthy and shiny. Oily hair responds very well to treatment, so every woman can provide her locks with suitable and gentle care.

You need to start caring for your hair as early as adolescence - during puberty, when due to hormonal changes, the oiliness of the skin and hair especially increases. If you don’t do this, then with age the situation can only worsen, and then it will be more difficult to deal with oily hair.

Causes of increased oily hair

The main reason for increased oiliness is that the sebaceous glands work too actively and produce much more sebum than necessary. Increased sebum secretion is often genetically determined, but may also indicate disturbances in the functioning of the endocrine system.

In addition, antibiotics, poor nutrition, sudden temperature changes, severe stress and improper care increase the separation of fat. Experts are confident that proper care for oily hair will help you avoid many problems and ensure that it always looks beautiful and neat.

Why does hair become oily?

Sebum, which makes hair quickly become oily, is actually extremely necessary for hair. It is the secreted subcutaneous fat that saves hair from brittleness and dryness, gives it smoothness, radiance and beauty. Without fatty lubricant, which many people dream of getting rid of, hair becomes dull, begins to split, break and fall out.

The sebaceous film thinly envelops each hair, protects it and makes it elastic. Fat moisturizes hair and supplies it with nutrients.

But oily hair certainly has its downsides. Increased fat content is explained by improper functioning of the sebaceous glands, which for some reason begin to produce excessive amounts of subcutaneous sebum. Fat clogs the skin pores, and the skin stops breathing, water and oxygen stop flowing to the roots.

Lack of nutrition also affects the condition of the hair itself: it becomes thinner and begins to fall out rapidly, and dandruff appears. Dandruff is keratinized particles of skin that every person has, but if the sebaceous glands do not work properly, the keratinized skin becomes too much, it rolls into lumps and becomes very noticeable.

There may be several reasons why the glands produce too much sebum:

  • Poor nutrition - an excess of fatty and sweet foods contributes to the production of excess subcutaneous fat, which causes not only the hair, but also the skin on the face to become oily.
  • Hormonal changes - especially during puberty and in women during menopause.
  • Incorrectly selected hair care products - you need to select a shampoo that matches your hair type.
  • Too cold or hot water - cold water does not wash away accumulated oil from the hair, and excessively hot water activates the sebaceous glands.
  • Dysbacteriosis also causes hair to quickly become dirty, dull and thin.
  • Nervous stress, constant stress and long-term depression negatively affect both the condition of the hair and health in general.
  • Abundant and constant use of hair styling products, frequent coloring and perm, as well as daily use of a hot hair dryer.
  • Heredity is the only problem that is difficult to deal with. Unbalanced nutrition and aggressive environmental influences turn hereditary predisposition into a real problem. But even in this case, proper hair and scalp care will help your hair look healthy and well-groomed.

Not all of these reasons can be dealt with on your own - sometimes a more in-depth, complex treatment of concomitant diseases that cause increased sebum secretion of the skin is required. Treatment should be prescribed by a doctor after examination and tests.

How to care for oily hair

Caring for oily hair has many “don’ts”, for example, scalp massage and frequent combing are not recommended.

Washing oily hair

On the one hand, those with problematic hair try to wash their hair as often as possible to get rid of oily shine. On the other hand, frequent washing will worsen the problem in the long run. Hair, like the scalp, gets used to being “dried” often and begins a “protection” program - fat is released more often and in larger quantities.

Try to allocate time in your schedule to “reset” your hair routine. Start washing your hair a little less often. At first, it will seem to you that your hair has become even more oily, but after a month you will be able to afford to reduce the number of procedures.

Drying and styling oily hair

When styling oily hair, you should not use very hot air. This will dry out your scalp and the curls themselves, but will not solve the problem of oiliness at all. And as a result, the need to restore hair due to fragility and dullness will be added to the main problem.

Using styling products for oily hair

Try to avoid using additional styling products, as oily hair is especially susceptible to their adverse effects. In addition, when you apply oil-containing products to your hair, you focus attention on the oily roots.

Combing oily hair

Doctors advise owners of oily hair to use a comb as little as possible, because such a massage stimulates the sebaceous glands and provokes excessive oil secretion. This means that it should be carried out only if necessary.

Oily hair care and treatment should be comprehensive: you need not only to perform cosmetic procedures, but also to follow a diet, take multivitamins, and choose the right shampoo.

First of all, you need to find out the cause of the increased sebum secretion and eliminate it. If this is a genetic feature of the body, then proper hair care will help restore shine and health to it.

Hello dear beauticians!
I want to dedicate my next post, so to speak, to “the sore subject.” I am the owner of long (below the shoulder blades) and, at the moment, trimmed, but the most offensive thing is oily hair. Many people believe that oily hair is a life sentence: they literally washed their hair, styled it, and the next day everything hangs in icicles and a feeling of complete “dustbin” on the head. But I don't think so! Proper washing and care of them makes you feel more confident. After all, oily hair is easier to treat than weak, brittle or dry hair, the main thing is to know how to treat it! Today I will talk about their rules for caring for oily hair.
Anyone interested - please see below
So, why does hair become “oily”?
The reasons are different: due to increased secretion of the sebaceous glands, due to genetic predisposition or some health problems, for example, disruption of the endocrine system.
In my case, genes are to blame for everything, so for me this cannot be treated “from the inside.” If the problem of oily hair began spontaneously for you, I advise you to consult a doctor, maybe all is not lost yet
The most important reason why we want to get rid of oily hair is because it looks unkempt. One joy is that this fat does not harm the hair in any way, but even helps it, protecting it from harmful environmental factors. However, this is no consolation; appearance is very important for a modern girl and therefore we rush to wash our hair immediately. So, washing oily hair:
Opinions differ about washing oily hair - some say that it needs to be washed often, i.e. every day, while others try to retrain it by walking around with dirty hair for a week. But, in my opinion, neither one nor the other is right.
Rule number 1:
Washing oily hair regularly! This means that if your sebaceous glands are too strong, then every day, but if you have the opportunity to wash less often, wash less often, but no less than once every three days! I wash every three days and feel quite comfortable, and my hair looks aesthetically pleasing.
Rule number 2:

choosing shampoos only for oily hair, i.e. Shampoos for other hair types are not suitable for us; they can only make the situation worse. It is advisable that the shampoos include: for light hair - an infusion of chamomile or calendula, and for dark hair - nettle, seaweed, horsetail, coltsfoot, etc. Also, do not forget about vitamins, proteins and microelements.
Rule number 3:

There are several techniques for washing your hair.
1. Apply already foamed shampoo, slightly diluted with water, to your hair. It is believed that this way the hair is less damaged. I admit, I have never tried this method. Maybe someone will try it, it will be interesting to read the opinion about this method.
I prefer the second way
2. Apply shampoo to the roots of the hair, rub well and scratch the scalp, doing a small scalp massage. This allows you to thoroughly rinse the scalp from dirt and excess oil, and the blood begins to circulate better, which helps strengthen the hair follicles and hair growth. Rinse off the shampoo only with warm water, not hot water.
Well, we washed our hair with shampoo, now

Rule number 4
: We use balms or conditioners, retreating 10 centimeters from the scalp. This way the hair is not overloaded and can maintain a clean look longer. As a rule, I apply various restoring balms because my hair is colored.

After all the procedures done, we wrap our hair in a towel and walk like this for 15 minutes so that excess moisture is absorbed into the towel.

So let's move on to the next phase, so to speak - drying and styling hair.

Rule number 5

if there is time and opportunity, dry your hair naturally! This will allow your hair to absorb the moisture it needs. By over-drying oily hair with a hair dryer, we only increase the production of sebum, which we absolutely do not need! But, if you still have to dry it with a hairdryer, then turn on the “cold drying” mode, thereby reducing harmful effects and keep the hair dryer at a distance of at least 15 cm from the hair.

Rule number 6
Styling your hair We try to add volume at the roots. The hair comes into less contact with the scalp and will become less greasy.

And of course,

Rule number 7:

Don’t forget to pamper your hair with different folk masks based on mint, lemon, egg or clay. Their composition can be adjusted depending on the condition of the hair and is suitable for everyone. I use various masks with white clay. Clay effectively reduces the production of sebum, one minus is that after such a mask you need to rinse your hair very thoroughly, otherwise a white coating from the clay will remain.

These are the simple rules I use in everyday life. Remember, oily hair is not a death sentence.
Be beautiful and healthy.

As usual everything is strawberry

Even the most fashionable haircut and beautiful hair color will not look good on dirty hair. The first rule of any hairstyle is clean, fresh hair. Unfortunately, many people complain that their hair quickly becomes untidy and greasy at the roots. This problem, although common, is solvable. Understanding the reasons and an integrated approach will rid your hair of excess oiliness and make it more beautiful and healthy.

Why do hair roots become oily?

In general, sebum production is an absolutely normal physiological process. Another thing is how active this production is. Oily hair at the roots not only looks unsightly, but can also cause hair loss. This is because sebum clogs the pores of the scalp, preventing skin cells from breathing. As a result, microcirculation becomes difficult and the nutrition of the hair follicles deteriorates. As a result, they weaken, hair becomes thinner and falls out.

Interesting fact: The maximum lifespan of a hair is only 5 years. Therefore, losing up to 100 hairs per day is not considered critical.

Strictly speaking, "" is an incorrect wording. Only the scalp can be oily, and the roots become dirty from it. There can be many reasons for active sebum production. Let's name the most common ones:

  • Hormonal imbalance
  • Poor nutrition
  • Improper hair care

The solution to this problem depends on the degree of its severity. If your hair becomes untidy already in the middle of the day, you cannot do without consulting a specialist.

Interesting fact: The specialist you should contact for hair problems is a trichologist.

In addition to the trichologist, you should also visit an endocrinologist and gastroenterologist.

The mask will moisturize dry hair and restore split ends with a natural hair care product.

And it will help with home care if you want to have thick and long hair.

First of all It is recommended to reconsider your diet. If your daily food includes fast food, sweets, carbonated drinks and large amounts of animal fats, they should be excluded. After just a week of eating healthy, you will notice that you wash your hair less often. An improvement in overall well-being will be a pleasant bonus.

As much as possible, give up complex styling and styling products. Come up with a simple hairstyle for yourself that does not require constant manipulation with brushes and combs, and which does not need to be fixed with hairspray, mousse and other means. Try to comb your hair starting from the ends and not touch the roots with the comb. The fact is that combing is a massage for the scalp, which also stimulates the sebaceous glands.

Washing oily hair

Proper and gentle cleansing of the scalp is the main thing in caring for oily hair. Do not use too warm or too cool water for this. It should be neutral so as not to cause unnecessary activity of the sebaceous glands. If you use shampoo labeled “for the whole family” or “for all hair types,” or even don’t think at all about what you wash your hair with, this needs to be corrected. There should be shampoo for oily hair on your shelf.

Interesting fact: shampoo is the main hair care product for more than 95% of people surveyed. Balms and masks are used by slightly more than half of the respondents.

If you try to fix your oily hair problem by washing it frequently, you're actually making the problem worse. The fact is that the skin simply needs sebum in a reasonable amount. It nourishes and protects, forming a thin film. If you wash it off with constant washing, then this will be a sign for the glands to work more actively. Try washing your hair a little less often. Yes, at first it will be very inconvenient and unsightly, but after a couple of weeks you will see that you can wash your hair less often.

If your hair is long and quickly becomes greasy at the roots, but its ends are quite dry, you need to use nourishing balms and masks. The main rule: no matter what the manufacturer writes on the packaging, such products should not be applied to the scalp.

Today there are entire lines of products that will help solve the problem of excessive oily hair. As a rule, they have a standard set of components and active ingredients that adsorb sebum and reduce the activity of the sebaceous glands.

  • Shampoos

As already mentioned, the right shampoo is the first and most important thing that should be chosen correctly for such a problem as oily hair. As a rule, these shampoos include essential oils and extracts of medicinal plants - grapefruit, lemon, green tea, peppermint. Clay, which adsorbs excess fat, can be auxiliary products; zinc, which dries and antibacterial complexes, which prevent the growth of bacteria on an excessively oily scalp.

  • Oils

Cosmetic and essential oils will help oily hair. Cosmetic products should be used immediately before washing. For oily scalp, peach and grape seed oil, almond, and sesame oil are suitable. They should be applied to the scalp with massaging movements and left for up to 10 minutes. The listed oils are easily washed out and help reduce the secretion of the sebaceous glands. In addition, after this procedure, the hair along its entire length will become smoother and shiny. Essential oils are a salvation from many cosmetic problems. To solve the problem of oily scalp, shampoos should be enriched with them before use. To do this, squeeze the required amount of shampoo into your palm and add 1-2 drops of essential oil. For oily hair, use cedar, sage, cypress, lemon, and grapefruit oils. In addition to the beneficial effects on the scalp, you will receive a pleasant aromatherapy session.

  • Balms

Balms, masks and conditioners are hair care products. As we have already found out, the hair itself is not oily, and the listed products cannot be applied to oily scalps. Why? They are designed to make combing easier and make hair smooth and shiny. In most cases, silicones and their derivatives are added to the composition of the product. These products can form a difficult-to-wash off film on the surface of the scalp, which will further complicate cellular respiration and generally worsen the problem. If the manufacturer claims that its balm is used specifically on the scalp, it is better to re-read the composition once again so as not to make things worse for yourself.

  • Folk remedies

The wisdom of the people knows no bounds. The solution to almost any medical or cosmetic problem can be found in the use of folk remedies. Oily scalp is no exception. The most popular and simplest recipe against this problem is rinsing your hair with vinegar after washing. To do this, dilute 1 tablespoon of apple or wine vinegar in a liter of water. The resulting solution is thoroughly washed from the roots. Vinegar can be replaced with lemon juice. Folk recipes offer many effective masks that will reduce oily hair with regular use.

remember, that Oily hair is a solvable problem. According to trichologists, excessively dry skin causes much more inconvenience. Approach the situation comprehensively, and you will see how quickly and successfully it can be corrected. Let your hair become your main decoration!

Nature rewarded me with oily hair. I wake up in the morning, look at myself in the mirror and am horrified. It’s as if my hair has never seen any shampoo, conditioner, hair dryer, or other attributes of beauty. We need to do something about this disgrace! I turned to a specialist for help, tried traditional medicine recipes, and went to my friends for advice. As a result, I developed a personal plan of action on how to get my hair in order. Now let's take it in order!

Why is my hair always oily?

I started by finding out the reasons why my hair quickly becomes greasy and ugly? I delved into the anatomy course and concluded that the appearance of my curls is related to the smooth functioning of my sebaceous glands. They produce a secretion that, mixed with sweat and dust, covers each hair with a film. Excess oily secretions cause that greasy shine.

Moreover, excess of this secretion penetrates the skin pores of the head and blocks access to oxygen and moisture . As a result, hair nutrition is disrupted, and it begins not only to become oily, but also to fall out. Even worse, dandruff appears. According to experts, this is how seborrheic dermatitis manifests itself.

What is the reason?

How to properly care for oily hair?

With a determined attitude, I went to see a trichologist. What a mysterious name?! But there is nothing complicated about it. The word "tricho" in Greek means hair, and "logos" means science. Therefore, a trichologist is a specialist who deals with the science of hair health. That is what I need!

The first step in learning how to properly care for your hair is to determine your hair type. Dry hair looks clean even a week after washing your hair. Normal ones can be put in order at intervals of 3-4 days. Well, the fat type requires increased daily attention.

Here are a few rules for caring for oily hair, which the trichologist recommended to me:

The trichologist recommended that I choose a special shampoo from a professional or organic series. The products offered by household chemical stores are oversaturated with chemical additives, and oily hair needs careful care. For this type, plant-based shampoos with extracts of nettle, calamus root, sage, horsetail, as well as those rich in protein, microelements, vitamins A, C and E are suitable.

How to properly wash oily hair

While searching for shampoo, I found an excuse to meet my girlfriends. Together with them, I was able to compile the top new products for caring for oily hair.

So, about the products included in our list

On the advice of a specialist, I went to a professional cosmetics store. Here I was recommended to purchase a medicated shampoo based on zinc oxide, a substance that reduces the amount of secretion secreted from the sebaceous glands . It relieves skin irritation and restores it, and is also suitable for frequent use. As they say, the effect is obvious.

10 days after using it, I felt a noticeable improvement in the condition of my hair. I started washing my hair not every day, but once every 3 days! It was a small victory. Then, on the recommendation of a trichologist, I switched to shampoo for regular use , but also from the professional series.

Oily hair care products

The next step in learning how to properly care for my hair was the selection of additional products

  1. From time to time I carry out a deep cleansing of the scalp using peeling shampoo . Good old henna dries the skin quite well, as well as sulsena paste and clay.
  2. Before washing your hair with shampoo, it is better degrease the skin with carrot or aloe juice, fermented milk products . They are applied to the strands while warm, then wrap the head in a towel for an hour.
  3. Good after washing your hair rinse with acidified water - with lemon or citric acid.

Another way to reduce greasiness is use masks . The trichologist recommended performing such procedures in a course. Apply the mask to unwashed hair, wrap your head in plastic and a towel on top. Under the influence of temperature, the components included in the mask are better absorbed into the skin. Keep for 30 minutes to an hour. The necessary solution is easy to prepare at home.

  • The simplest mask with kefir . It must be applied and left for 30 minutes.
  • Tar is known as an effective exfoliant and an excellent antiseptic; its only drawback is its specific smell. If you have the opportunity to temporarily move to the dacha, you can cook tar mask . It is prepared using 40 gr. alcohol, 75 gr. olive oil, 5 gr. tar. This product is suitable for treating oily and brittle hair.
  • Another recipe: grated ginger root and the juice is squeezed out of the resulting mass. Strands after this medicine become beautiful and shiny.
  • I also liked masks with burdock oil, half honey with an egg, and also with raw potato juice mixed with kefir.

Traditional methods of treatment

After a visit to the trichologist, I began to wash off the shampoo with herbal infusion or decoction.

I adopted a simple recipe: 2 tbsp. Place spoons of nettle leaves, coltsfoot, calamus or burdock (whatever is on hand) in a container together or separately, pour a liter of boiling water, boil, leave and rinse your hair.

Revitalize and strengthen hair. There are tons of grandma’s recipes like this, choose any! I liked some of them.

  • Grind rowan fruits with mint leaves . Apply the resulting paste to the scalp, leave for 30 minutes and then rinse.
  • A similar compress can be prepared from plantain or dandelion greens .
  • The next option is for rinsing: 1 tbsp. dilute a spoonful of mustard powder in water and pour a couple of liters of boiling water .
  • Prepares for rinsing very oily hair a solution of water with ammonia in the proportion: per liter teaspoon of alcohol .
  • Pour boiling water over the needles of any coniferous plant , boil for 20 minutes, then strain and rinse your hair.

I learned some tricks that will help make my oily hair look neat. To quickly get yourself in order, you can wash only your bangs, temples and the top part of your hair, and put the rest into a ponytail. It looks beautiful from above, but is not visible from behind.

Another feminine trick: powder all the same prominent places with dry powder with talcum powder, after a while comb and style.

By the way, it is better to fix your hair with gel or spray. Conditioners and mousses are not very suitable for styling strands prone to oiliness, because... they add oily shine.

What else do you need to do to tidy up your hair?

Firstly , improve your diet. Avoid fatty, sweet and starchy foods. Organize a healthy, nutritious and fortified diet for yourself. I'm sure this will benefit my hair and...
