We sew a monkey from fabric. The best DIY monkey making tutorials on the internet! Paper monkey

New Year is a long-awaited holiday. It is customary for needlewomen to prepare in advance, so that later, in the pre-New Year bustle, they do not waste the festive mood on household chores. Practical needlewomen make gifts six months before the onset of any holiday. Since it takes a lot of time to make things with your own hands.

We invite you to sew the symbol of 2016 - a monkey. The pattern has been floating around on the Internet for a long time, but there is no decent description of how to make a fabric monkey using it.

Materials:

  • felt - 2 thin sheets;
  • sewing threads;
  • floss skein;
  • sushi stick;
  • 2 buttons;
  • tailor's scissors;
  • a pen or a special stamp for patterns;
  • filler (holofiber);
  • printed pattern.

Experienced needlewomen can make a monkey from any fabric they like. For beginners, I recommend felt. It does not crumble, the details on it can be cut as you like, and it is easy to sew. I took two colors: yellow for the body and tail, white for the muzzle and paws. The floss picked up yellow. If you are going to give the monkey to a child, you can take a contrasting one to make the toy more interesting and brighter.

It is better to use holofiber for filling. It evenly fills the space inside the fabric and does not create unsightly lumps and “cellulite.” It is very easy to sew such a funny toy with your own hands.

Pattern

Pattern without allowances.

Ideally, you need to cut out as many parts from paper as you need from fabric. If you plan to dress the monkey later, you can sew it without a tail and without an oval belly.

Number of details:

  • body 2 pcs.;
  • upper legs 4 pcs.;
  • lower legs 4 pcs.;
  • tail 2 pcs.;
  • face parts 1 pc.;
  • ears 4 pcs.;
  • belly 1 pc.

All details should be traced taking into account allowances. I left 0.5 cm. If you don’t have enough sewing experience, make allowances of 0.7 cm. The excess can then be trimmed off.

Sew a dart on the top of the face.

Connect the upper and lower parts of the muzzle together, baste and secure with pins. Stitch.

Turn out. Carefully straighten the seams.

On the back of the face, attach an oval, baste or secure with pins. Sew, leaving a hole at the bottom for turning inside out.

Carefully cut off the excess.

Turn out the muzzle. Straighten the seams inside, helping with a sushi stick. Stuff the part with holofiber, but not too tightly. This part of the muzzle will be sewn to another part. You will need to hide the excess, so you shouldn’t make it dense.

Using floss threads, sew a buttonhole stitch around the edges of the main part of the muzzle. I overcast the entire piece. This will make it easier to sew it to the body later.

Place the stuffed part on top. Accept or secure with pins. Sew with a hidden seam. Make sure that the parts are not skewed, do not change their location, so as not to redo them several times. Take your time. This is the most difficult stage of sewing a monkey. I sewed the convex part of the face so that the overcast edge protrudes slightly. That is, the hidden seam lay below the buttonhole seam.

Before sewing the muzzle to the body, you need to make a tummy. You can do without a belly. It just makes the monkey look more interesting and fun. First, sew a buttonhole stitch around the edge. Determine the location of the part, secure with pins. Then sew the tummy to the body using an applique stitch. You can put a little bit of filler inside.

Place the muzzle on the body and pin it with pins. Sew with an appliqué stitch. Embroider the eyes with floss threads or make them from small buttons or beads.

Next you need to make the ears. I cut out two pieces each, yellow and white. If, when superimposing the parts, it is revealed that they do not match in size, they need to be adjusted. Then sew a buttonhole stitch over the semicircular part of the ears. They won't turn out.

Place the ears with the white side on the muzzle. Cover the top with the second part of the body. Attach with pins, adjusting the position of the ears.

Sew the body together, leaving a hole at the bottom for turning inside out.

You can start working on the paws and tail. Leave the turning hole on the side of the upper legs. At the lower legs and tail, we leave the place of stitching to the body unsewn.

Turn and straighten the seams, helping with a sushi stick. Please note that fleece is a soft and loose material, it can be easily pierced with a stick. Therefore, be careful when turning it inside out.

The monkey is almost ready. All that remains is to fill it with holofiber and connect everything. Close all holes that were left for turning and stuffing with a blind seam.

Sew the lower legs to the body in a circle. That is, first on one side of the part and then on the other. It will be more reliable this way.

Attach the upper legs to a button fastening.

Sew the tail in the same way as the lower legs.

The monkey is ready.

It took me almost the whole day. How much time you need depends on your skill and efficiency. It's better not to rush. You can sew such a monkey from fabric of different colors or with a pattern. You can change the scale of the pattern, make it larger or smaller.

No matter how paradoxical it may sound, such toys in the “a la Russe” style look very nice. Moreover, this hand-made tilde is used to bring good news to someone in their pocket.

  1. The pattern is very simple.
  2. Embroider the eyes with black thread.
  3. Place the face and pocket on the front of the monkey pattern.
  4. Sew them on by machine.
  5. Place the ears on the face, cover everything with the second back part of the pattern and stitch, leaving a small hole.
  6. Turn the toy inside out.
  7. Stuff the filling inside with your own hands.
  8. All that remains is to sew the edges of the hole and the Russian-style monkey is ready.

Monkeys made of paper and on paper

Drawing postcards with children

Children should definitely be involved in preparing New Year's souvenirs - let them make at least simple crafts with monkeys with their own hands, for example, postcards. They will probably like the process, because during the work they will literally have to fumble around in the paint with their hands and feet)

To make a card with a monkey hanging on a vine, all you need is a sheet of paper and watercolors. Help your child paint 4 fingers and a palm with brown paint, and then let him leave his handprint on the paper! The monkey's head and tail can also be painted with paints.

Or you can cut them out of colored paper:

These simple elements can be used to create a cute monkey face)

Option three

If you don’t have time to sew a monkey with arms and legs, then sew only the head, it will be perfect as a keychain.

Option four

Such a monkey can be cut out of thick felt by gluing all the parts together. It will be faster, and it will look just as decent.

Monkeys are usually associated with unbridled fun and symbolize happiness. These are very funny and cute animals. A craft in the shape of a monkey, the symbol of 2019, can be made using various techniques. The choice depends only on personal preferences and the tools that are always at hand.

Salt dough monkey

Everyone knows that children love to sculpt various figures from plasticine. An alternative to this activity for adults can be modeling a monkey from salt dough. Such crafts retain their appearance for a long period of time and do not deteriorate, unlike plasticine figures, which quickly begin to leak as soon as they are left in the sun, next to heaters or radiators.

In order to prepare plastic dough, you only need: flour, salt and water. You should mix 100g. flour, the same amount of regular table salt and add approximately 50g. water. In this case, only the finest salt will do. The result should be a homogeneous plastic mass. If the consistency of the dough does not seem plastic enough, you can add a little glycerin or vegetable oil. In this case, the dough will not stick to your palms and will provide additional care for the skin of your hands.

The next stage of work is the modeling itself. There are several tips that will help you make a high-quality and attractive craft:

To prevent the prepared dough from becoming dry and crusty, it should be wrapped in cling film and small pieces should be torn off from the main mass to make a specific element of the craft.
Since finished dough figures need to be baked, you can sculpt them directly on parchment paper or baking foil.
It will be easier to sculpt a figurine if, as an example, you put a printed picture of a monkey you like in plain sight.
It is better to place the remaining plastic mass in the refrigerator, where it can be stored for several days and used for making other crafts from salt dough.

Figures made from dough should be baked in the oven for about an hour at a temperature of at least 100°, then painted and varnished.

Monkey made of wool

Using the dry felting technique, wool will make a cute souvenir in the shape of a monkey. When creating a monkey using the felting technique, you will need special needles, which can be easily purchased at any store that sells handicraft items. You also need to prepare:

2 shades of brown wool for felting, some blue and white wool for the monkey’s eyes;
A foam sponge that is used as a stand. This will help protect the table surface from scratches;
For the monkey's frame you will need wire. It is better to use copper wire;
Super glue;
A dry bed will be needed to highlight the monkey's nose and cheeks.

It is best to start working on making crafts from the head. It is necessary to take a piece of wool of a light shade of brown and form an even ball. It should be taken into account that as a result of the work the ball will decrease by approximately half.

Now you can proceed directly to the felting process. To do this, you just need to pierce the wool ball with a needle. If the outside of the ball turns out to be dense, but the inside feels empty, you should take a thinner needle and continue working.

A crown needle will help make small elements on the face of the future monkey. To make eyes, you first need to apply white wool to the surface of the muzzle, and then a little blue. Such work must be done with the thinnest needle.

Using the same principle, all other parts of the craft are made on the frame, which are fastened together with transparent superglue.

Sock monkey

You can make an excellent monkey from even ordinary socks. For this craft you will need a pair of socks. Before starting work, the socks should be carefully ironed - one across, the other along. The sock that is ironed lengthwise will be the body of the craft. The toe of the sock will act as the head, the heel will be the monkey's butt. The part that is below the heel must be cut in half and the resulting parts sewn separately. This will create the legs. From the second sock you need to cut out the tail, arms and ears. The heel will form the protruding part of the muzzle.
All parts are sewn by machine or by hand, filled tightly with padding and stitched together. To ensure that the filling is distributed evenly, the parts of the craft should be twirled in your hands, like a plasticine sausage. All that remains is to sew on the button eyes and the monkey is ready.

DIY monkey photo

New Year 2016 is approaching, the symbol of which, according to the eastern calendar, is the monkey. This means that crafts with such an animal will be especially relevant on the eve of the coming year. Let's prepare for the holiday in advance and learn how to sew. A toy can be made in various ways, let's look at some of them.

How to sew a monkey from fabric

For beginners, cotton types of fabrics are most preferable, as they do not slip and are easy to cut and sew.

You will need:

  • 2 types of fabric: brown and light beige;
  • filler: cotton wool, padding polyester, holofiber;
  • scissors;
  • pencil or chalk;
  • needle;
  • threads to match the fabric;
  • ready-made eyes.

The first stage is making a monkey pattern. To do this, we draw the details of our monkey on thick paper or cardboard. You will need 2 parts for the body with the head, tail and ears, 4 parts for the paws and 1 for the muzzle. Cut it out and transfer it to the fabric, leaving 0.5 cm for allowances. We take into account that the details of the muzzle and the front side of the ears will be made of light fabric.

You can use ready-made patterns, for example, these ones that we took from open sources on the Internet (to enlarge the photo, click on them):

Here are some more very simple monkey patterns:

As you can see, there is no single pattern for a monkey toy as such. You can change the configuration of parts according to your taste and desire.

At the second stage, we sew the parts of the body from the wrong side, leaving a small area for stuffing the toy, turn it inside out, and stuff it. We do the same with the paws, tail and ears.

Let's get to work on the muzzle - sew 4 darts and sew the part to the head with a hidden seam, not forgetting to put in the filler. We use the same seam to connect all the parts of our toy. At the final stage we glue the eyes, the nose and mouth can be drawn or embroidered.

How to sew a monkey from felt

This material has a number of advantages over other materials. There are a lot of bright shades of felt, its edges do not fray, there is no difference between the front and back sides, felt is available in various thicknesses, it is easy to sew and glue.

You will need:

  • felt in two shades: brown and beige;
  • filler;
  • scissors;
  • needle;
  • threads to match the fabric;
  • ready-made eyes or beads.

The principle of making a pattern is the same as using fabric. For the monkey you will need 2 brown parts for the head, body, tail and ears, 4 for the paws, 1 beige part for the muzzle.

We sew the toy, starting from the paws and tail, using a loop stitch. After stuffing, sew up the remaining holes. Then we begin to sew the body, at the same time sewing in the finished paws and tail, leaving a hole on the neck for stuffing.

We fold the ears from the circles and begin to sew the head, sewing the ears into it. Having reached the neck, we sew the head to the body. Leave the hole for stuffing at the top of the head. The blank for the muzzle can be attached in any convenient way. We make eyes; if desired, you can embroider a mouth and nose.

How to simply sew an original monkey from socks

It is very easy and simple to sew monkeys from ordinary children's or women's socks.

You will need:

  • 1 pair of socks, preferably terry;
  • threads;
  • needle;
  • scissors;
  • padding polyester;
  • ready-made eyes.

Turn the socks inside out. We make markings: one sock is the monkey’s body, its upper part is the head; the lower part, where the elastic band is, is the hind legs, the rest, together with the heel, is the torso. We mark the second sock: the upper part is the muzzle, the elastic is the paws, from the rest we cut out two ears and a tail.

We begin to sew the pattern from the first sock: we sew the paws without fastening the lower part of the body, turn it inside out and stuff our toy. We sew the blanks from the second sock - paws, tail and ears, stuff them and attach them to the body with hidden stitches. Then carefully baste the muzzle, filling it in the same way. We attach the eyes, the monkey is ready.

How to sew an adorable fur monkey

To sew a toy, it is best to use short fur on a knitted base.

You will need:

  • two types of fur: basic and any light;
  • cord;
  • decoration elements;
  • threads;
  • needle.

Sew two balls from fur of the main color - a head and a body. Fasten by laying a cord between them - these will be the front paws. Sew the second piece of cord in the middle from the bottom of the body - these are the hind legs. Attach two small fur balls to the head and one each to the ends of the laces. Make a muzzle out of light fur - an overlay and attach it to the head with a seam over the edge. Glue on the eyes.

Monkey in the form of applique or embroidery

This method can be used in finishing children's and women's clothing. It is better to use chintz, satin, rep, chesucha, madapolam, cambric.

You will need:

  • base fabric;
  • scraps of brown fabric for the body, head, paws, tail;
  • scraps of beige fabric for the muzzle;
  • remnants of black and red fabric - for the eye and mouth;
  • tracing paper;
  • scissors;
  • matching threads;
  • sewing machine.

We draw a monkey on paper, then break the drawing into parts: head, torso, paws, tail, muzzle, eyes. Translate to tracing paper. Then we adjust the pieces of fabric to the size we need for the components we need and glue each part with non-woven material. The base on which the applique is made should also be glued. We lay the first layer on the base, these will be the paws, ears and tail, secure with pins and attach each element separately, along with tracing paper. After this, we tear off the tracing paper and cut off everything unnecessary close to the seam. The second layer is the preparation of the body and head. We proceed according to the above scheme. The third layer is the muzzle, the fourth is the eyes and mouth. If desired, you can embroider the mouth and add white highlights to the eyes.

Embroidering a monkey is even easier: we prepare the base as for appliqué, transfer the design to the fabric, and stitch the contours first with a straight line and then with a zigzag stitch. The step width is minimal.

As you can see, sewing a monkey with your own hands is not at all difficult; all you need is the desire to make original things and toys with your own hands.

Paper can provide enormous scope for creativity and in human hands takes on a variety of images. You can cut out only the silhouette or, for example, glue a monkey from a ready-made template. However, the most interesting thing is to make a paper monkey using the origami technique. After all, watching how a simple sheet of paper gradually takes on the shape of this or that animal is always so exciting!

To work we need scissors and a sheet of paper. Since our figurine will be one color, simple one-sided paper will do, preferably brown.

  • Cut out a square and fold it in half twice. Unfold and also fold diagonally twice. We bend all the outlined lines at once - and we get the basic “double square” figure. We turn the workpiece at a blind angle away from us and alternately bend its sides so that the line divides each of the corners in half.

  • We unfold the folds and open the workpiece, as shown in the figure.

  • Turn it over and repeat on the other side. Note: the resulting rhombus in origami is called the basic “bird” figure.

  • Again we bend the sides of the workpiece in half - also on both sides.

  • We lower the “petal” and bend it in half so that points a and b coincide. Cut off a corner along the fold line.

  • We bend the remaining section in half to make folds-ears.

  • We turn the workpiece over, mark a line and bend the long left petal along it.

  • Turn the workpiece over. We bend the future paw again, forming an elbow.

  • We also bend the second paw to give it shape.

  • All that remains is to cut the triangle and fold the lower legs. The origami monkey is ready!

The scheme can be complicated, and then the monkey will turn out different.

By the way, since we cut the workpiece, the technique we used will be called “Kirikomi origami”. In traditional origami, figures are folded from a single sheet of paper.

Paper monkey: more ideas!

This, of course, is not the only way to make a monkey. Modular origami is also popular now. It is enough to learn how to fold a simple module - and you can assemble a variety of figures. This is what your monkey can turn out like!

And a professional like Akira Yoshizawa can use water (so-called “wet folding”) to achieve maximum resemblance to a real monkey!

If you look closely, you will notice that the origami master managed to fold the last monkey from a ten-ruble bill.
