Master Class. Weaving from foil “Lacy lilies. Weaving from foil: instructions, tips. Crafts from foil for the New Year Subtleties in weaving with foil

Fashionable and exciting activity - foil weaving

I noticed new kits in handicraft stores - do-it-yourself foil weaving. I looked at it, turned it over, it was very easy to do.

No glue needed. Cut the foil into strips 3 cm wide and as long as the width of the roll. The foil needs to be thin and suitable for packaging food; thicker foil is not suitable for baking. Then you need to crumple the strip across its entire length and twist it, as when spinning. The result is a shiny wire 2-3 mm in diameter. Anything can be woven from such wires by screwing the wires to each other.

Only double-sided colored foil is suitable, otherwise, when twisted, the silver color comes out and the craft looks sloppy.

Here's what you can do - DIY foil weaving. By the way, it is very suitable as an addition to a gift.

I propose to consider the MK of the grape branch

You will need: foil, scissors, paper napkins, ruler, patience and good mood.

We cut the foil across the sheet into strips 3 cm wide each. We will use these strips to weave leaves. A total of 21 strips will be required.

We crumple the strips with our fingertips, first form thick strands, which we then carefully roll into flexible shiny wires.

To weave leaves we will need:
1) wires of standard length (i.e. obtained by cutting from a roll along its width, our length of standard wire turned out to be 17 cm) - 14 pieces,
2) double length wires (34 cm) - 2 pieces,
3) triple length wires (51 cm) - 1 piece.
Double or triple length can be achieved in two ways:
1) We connect two or three original strips before the creasing process, after which we form a common wire. We start the creasing process from the joint.
2) Cut the foil strips to the required length at once, cutting the roll lengthwise. With this method, the joints will definitely not be visible, but the use of foil is less economical.

We form a five-fingered leaf. We will need 1 triple length wire and 7 standard ones.
We bend the long wire in half, and screw a standard wire to the bend with a double tight turn.

By bending a long wire, we give it the shape of a five-fingered sheet.

Next, we form the veins on the leaf. For this we will need the remaining standard wires. We fasten the wire with a double spiral on the upper “hollow” of the sheet and, passing through the middle of the central vein, we also fasten it with a double spiral on the symmetrical hollow. We cut off the excess - these segments are useful for small veins.

In the same way, we add three more veins, connecting the symmetrical depressions of the leaf and the pointed areas. All the veins must touch in the center so that we can then twist them together. It turned out something like this.

We attach small veins to each pointed section of the leaf. To do this, we fasten the wire with a double spiral on the outer contour of the sheet, with a single turn we pass it through the corresponding vein and symmetrically fasten it with a double spiral on the other outer contour. We make 5 such veins.

Formation of a three-fingered leaf. I’ll say right away that we liked making the three-fingered sheet more - it’s faster, more convenient, the sheet is stiffer and holds its shape better.
You will need 1 double length wire and 6 standard ones.
The beginning is the same - we screw a small wire with a double spiral to the bend of a long wire.

13.
.

We form a three-fingered shape. We immediately wrap the lower ends into the petiole.

Something like this.

We add veins in the same way as a five-fingered leaf (see point 12). Using finger pressure, we sharpen the tips of the sheet.

To make the antennae, take the remaining double-length wire and wind it around a pencil. We remove and stretch.

This is how we got it.

Next we will make the grapes themselves.
We cut the foil along the width of the sheet into strips of greater width (we got strips 7-8 cm wide and 17 cm long).
We twist flexible wires from two strips - we will then form a bunch on their basis.
We cut the remaining strips crosswise into two equal parts - from them we will make grapes.
The instructions suggest twisting 40 berries, we did a little less.

To create the berries, we use paper napkins, cut in half. We crumple the napkins, preferably with slightly damp hands, then roll them into tight balls between our palms.

Take half a wide strip of foil and tightly wrap the end of it around the paper ball. We crumple the free end of the foil and twist it into a wire, as for leaves. This way we make as many grapes as we need.

We form the bunch itself. We take one of the two wires for the base of the bunch (see point 21). We screw two grapes successively to its edge.
Using the same technique, we twist three berries together, screwing the other two to one stalk.

It turned out like this.

We screw the second base wire with a double spiral below. We will also screw grape blanks to it. Next, we form a bunch to your taste.
We screw the leaves and tendril to the upper part, free from berries.

We admire the result.

The idea, of course, is not ours, but I think it will be useful to many. We wish everyone creative success!!!

Ice flower. Master class on foil weaving.

Dear colleagues!

I am pleased to present to you Master Class« Ice flower» By foil weaving.

For work you will need foil"Sayanskaya" and scissors.

Foil itself is beautiful, shiny, but not very durable. Therefore, we will begin work with the production of aluminum "straws".

Take scissors and cut 20-30 strips from the roll by eye foil each 2-3 cm wide. To the foil didn't tear, make long cuts (the entire length of the blade, and after each spread the tips of the scissors wide. Try to ensure that there are no burrs or cuts on the edge of the strip. Because of them, the strip may tear when twisted. Also, do not try to fold foil before cutting in several layers, otherwise you will not be able to separate the cut strips from each other without tearing them.

Now take one strip and, using grasping movements of both hands, mercilessly crumple it across its entire length.

Clamp "sausage" between the thumb and forefinger of both hands, and as if "spin" her, slowly moving from beginning to end. If there are any uneven spots, go over them again.

For elasticity and strength flower put in each strip foil thin copper wire.

Secure the straw in the middle of another straw with a double twist, and press the twist tightly with your fingers.

Secure the five straws to the sixth with a double twist close to each other.

Twist all the ends of the straws together at the base of the petal.

The petal is ready!

There can be from three to five or six such petals, according to your desire.

Now let's make the middle flower.

For a rectangular piece foil put a wad of napkin or a ball of foil, hide it inside and twist the core flower along with stem.

You can put steel wire or a plastic frame from artificial trees inside the future stem for strength. colors.

Now screw pieces of straws onto a pencil, these will be the stamens flower.

Assemble all the parts together using wire.

The flower is ready!

Leaflets for flower do it the simplest way - put six straws together and twist with a simple twist at the beginning and end.

If you are fully involved in the creative process, "spinning" aluminum straws began to bring you joy and does not interfere with watching your favorite TV shows, make flower according to a simplified scheme, where the petals are made of aluminum straws from smallest to largest.

For patient, creative natures variations there is a huge variety of weaving flowers from foil!

Enjoy your creative process!

Foil is traditionally used in cooking, especially meat and fish, and also as packaging for various products.

Foil weaving as an art

But creative individuals have found other uses for it, namely in children’s (and not only) crafts. This type of art is called foil weaving.

This activity is very exciting, but requires great care, since the foil breaks very easily.

Works of art made from foil will be a wonderful decoration for your home, a gift or decoration for various holidays. From afar, such crafts can be mistaken for silver figurines.

What can be made from foil

For example, snowflakes and snowmen turn out beautiful for the New Year. All this will give your home a festive atmosphere. In addition, you can weave anything and everything you have enough imagination for: berries and fruits, flowers, animals and even people. You can compose entire compositions.

Before you start weaving, you can purchase a special weaving kit, which includes detailed instructions, foil and a cardboard ruler. However, if it is not possible to get such a set, you can use the advice given here. They are all very simple, and you should not have any difficulties mastering foil weaving. The instructions will help you with this.

If you have ever tried knitting or embroidering, you will quickly grasp the principle and understand how to weave from foil with your own hands. And after several attempts, when you get the hang of it, you will be able to create crafts that are more complex and larger in size.

Subtleties in foil weaving

  1. Do not use heat-resistant or very thick foil. It will be hard to work, your fingers will get tired quickly, and the products will turn out too hard.
  2. Use long scissors with straight blades. Open the scissors wide to avoid tearing the foil and creating uneven surfaces. If you are creating with a child, make notes using a pencil and ruler before cutting the strips.
  3. The width of a standard foil roll is 30 centimeters. Based on this, determine the length you need.
  4. The most important thing is to learn how to weave flagella. To do this, simply crumple the cut strip of foil lengthwise. Continue squeezing it with your fingers until you get a piece with a diameter of 4-5 mm. Squeeze the flagellum with two fingers and begin to roll it, slowly walking along the entire length. As a result, a wire with a thickness of 1.5-2 mm should form.
  5. The twisting of such flagella is a mechanical task, so your attention is not required. Weave several of these tubes while watching a movie or having a telephone conversation. And then all you have to do is twist them, following the instructions.
  6. Fix all details with the same number of scrolls so that the symmetry of the object is not broken.
  7. If you are weaving with a child, select patterns for crafts in accordance with the child’s age so that it is not too difficult or easy for him.

Now let’s look at an example of how to make some crafts from foil for the New Year. Let's start with a beautiful and original candlestick.

Materials for production

Prepare the following materials and tools for work:

  • ordinary food foil;
  • scissors;
  • a candle for which, in fact, you will make a candlestick;
  • tape-centimeter;
  • medium tin lid.

Let's make a New Year's candlestick together

When everything you need is prepared, you can start weaving from foil.

  1. Take the lid, its diameter should be slightly larger than the diameter of the candle. Wrap the lid with foil.
  2. Measure out a strip on the foil that is 10 centimeters wide and about 5 centimeters longer than the circumference of the base of the candlestick. Cut out the resulting strip.
  3. Twist this strip of foil into a thin, tight tube, like a flagellum, and connect the ends to form a ring. Tighten the connection well.
  4. Cut 5 more strips of this width. The length depends on the height of the candle you choose. For example, 50-60 centimeters.
  5. Twist the cut strips into the same tubes as before.
  6. Take one flagellum and attach it to the ring, twisting it in half so that a loop appears on the main ring.
  7. Do the same with the remaining tubes. The result was something similar to the sun.
  8. Connect all the flagella to each other, doing three twists each time. The end result should be a mesh.
  9. Place the ring in the lid.

That's all, your New Year's candlestick is ready.

What you need to weave snowflakes

Let's make another New Year's themed decoration. And this will long ago become a kind of symbol of the main winter holidays. They are traditionally cut out of paper, cardboard, woven from thread, and made into papier-mâché. All this can be replaced with foil weaving. The snowflake will turn out shiny and quite realistic. In addition, it will look harmonious with the same candlestick and Christmas tree decorations.

You will need:

  • scissors;
  • regular foil;
  • ruler.

How to weave a snowflake from foil yourself

You can start working.

The snowflake is ready. With the help of rings, you can hang it on a Christmas tree or somewhere else. And from several snowflakes you can build a whole garland.

There are other ways to weave a snowflake from foil. For example, such a cute snowflake, as shown in the figure below, is an alternative to the previous one, but here the design is made without loop rings, and the rest of the procedure is the same.

As you can see, a very pleasant and interesting way to pass the time is foil weaving. The master class on the above-mentioned products is simple and clear. With its help, even children can make such crafts.

How to decorate crafts made from foil

You can also make beautiful flower arrangements using weaving. It is not necessary that they be silver in color; the finished craft can be painted using acrylic paint, giving the desired shades to the resulting figures.

Either way, the ideas for foil weaving are endless, and there are probably new patterns and instructions for this fun activity popping up every day.

"FOILART" or weaving from soft aluminum foil is a new type of needlework invented, developed and patented by me, Olesya Emelyanova (RF patent No. 2402426). This is a simple and fun activity for girls and their mothers aged 8 years and older, which allows you to create original gifts and interior decorations with your own hands.

Aluminum foil is a soft, natural and completely safe material. Working with him is easy and pleasant. Properties of foil such as heat and moisture resistance significantly expand the scope of application of decorative products made from it. New design horizons are opening up for you - with ready-made compositions you can decorate lamps, candlesticks, flower pots, verandas, gazebos, open loggias, kitchen and bathroom interiors. Wherever other decorations quickly become unusable or pose a danger, foil products continue to delight you with their beauty.

You do not need any special skills or purchase of special tools. This hobby is extremely economical and anyone can do it. First, the foil is cut into strips and twisted into thin flexible wires. Their uneven shiny surface creates a beautiful decorative effect, making the products look like jewelry. Weaving techniques are simple, but they allow you to model any shape and provide unlimited scope for creativity and self-expression. Follow the instructions and excellent results are guaranteed.
