CLASSIC PACKAGING IN A SHEET OF WRAP PAPER

happygreylucky.com

The simplest packaging method, suitable for a voluminous or flat rectangular gift (for example, something already sold packaged in a box) is gift paper. For packaging you will need a suitable size sheet of fancy printed or plain craft paper, tape or glue.

bowsandbands.net

Wrap the gift in a piece of paper and secure the long edges with tape or glue. Using your own hands, fold the paper over the short edges to form corners. Bend the corners inward and also secure with tape or glue.

GIFT BAGS

A bag made of fabric or paper can be of any size - accordingly, it can hold almost any gift.

PAPER GIFT BAG

abeautifulmess.com

“Unformatted” gift - very small, very large, unusual shape? You can pack this in a paper bag made by yourself. By the way, you can write or draw whatever you want on it. You will need: the gift itself (for the template) or a cardboard box of suitable size, craft paper (or any other thick paper), scissors, glue (a glue stick will do), hole punch, ribbons for pens. If you will be making inscriptions or drawings, also paint, brushes and/or a stencil.

Trace the bottom of the box on paper. Cut it out. Also cut out two parts equal in width to the width of the box (and the future package) - then you will need to use them to strengthen the places for the handles.

STEP 2

Place the box flat on the paper. Cut the sheet so that there is enough paper to wrap the entire gift, plus there are significant allowances left. Bend one of the edges and fold it inward - the handles of the bag will be attached there.

STEP 3

PAPER AND CARDBOARD PACKAGING

You can put a souvenir, decoration or any other small gift in handmade boxes.

PAPER “CHEST” WITH CLASP

This colored paper box is suitable for hiding a small or medium-sized gift. The size of the chest may vary - if necessary, change the dimensions of the pattern accordingly and take a larger sheet. You will need: a sheet of thick colored paper, a ruler and pencil, scissors, a breadboard knife. Draw in advance and cut out two patterns from rough paper, one with a valve, the other with a slot for it. Draw a square on a sheet of paper, trace the patterns, cut out the blank and fold the box.

CARDBOARD PACKAGING - “PILLOW”

artsycraftsymom.com

Making such packaging is quite simple, but it is universal and can look both strict and romantic - depending on the choice of paper. You will need: a piece of colored paper or cardboard with or without a pattern, paper glue, a pencil, a ruler, a protractor or any round object that can be used as a template, scissors, ribbon or string for decoration.

STEP 1

artsycraftsymom.com

Prepare cardboard or paper of the required size. The length of the sheet will correspond to the length of the future packaging, the width of the sheet will be twice the width of the box. Leave room for “seam allowances” on three sides.

STEP 2

artsycraftsymom.com

Draw fold lines on the back of the sheet. To draw rounded lines, use a protractor (saucer or something suitable). Using the blunt end of the scissors, trace the outer edges of the future package along the ruler and template - this will make it easier to fold.

STEP 3

artsycraftsymom.com

Cut along the outer edge.

STEP 4

artsycraftsymom.com

Fold the workpiece along the marked lines.

STEP 5

artsycraftsymom.com

Glue the box along the side seam. After hiding the gift there, tie it with a ribbon or cord.

PACKAGING - “CAKE”

This kind of packaging is more suitable for giving something to a girl, girl or woman - for example, in the video, one of the “pieces of cake” hides a ring in a case. But if your loved one or dad has a sweet tooth, you can hide a gift for him in such a “cake”. If you need to give gifts to a whole family or company, you can hide one gift in each “piece”. You will need: 12 sheets of thick construction paper in a “chocolate” or other “confectionery” color, scissors, glue, white ribbon, flowers for decoration, paper napkin or cake box for serving. To get started, download and print the packaging template. Next, follow the steps shown in the video.

BOX WITH COVER USING ORIGAMI TECHNIQUE

You can put a souvenir, sweets or decoration in such a box. You will need: two square sheets of double-sided colored paper, perseverance and attention.

TYING BOWS

An already wrapped gift can be decorated with bows - here are a few different ways to do it.

SIMPLE CLASSIC BOW

bowsandbands.net

Wrap the gift with ribbon and tie a simple single knot. Turn the gift over with the knot facing down and rotate it 90 degrees, wrap the ribbon around it again to make a cross, and tie the knot again. Make a bow from the remaining ends of the ribbon and tie.

COMPLEX CLASSIC BOW

alifeofgeekery.co.uk

This cute bow is also a classic and a great decoration for any gift. Choose the color and width of the ribbon - you can make a miniature one-color bow or a large one from ribbons of different colors. You will need: packing tape (the kind they use, for example, in flower shops), scissors, stapler and paper clips, glue.

STEP 1

alifeofgeekery.co.uk

Cut 6 pieces from the ribbon: 3 - longer, 2 - slightly shorter, 1 - the smallest. Make “figure eights” out of five segments, as in the picture, and fasten them with a stapler. Roll the smallest piece in a circle and secure it too.

STEP 2

alifeofgeekery.co.uk

Staple three large “eights” and two small ones into bow blanks. Then glue the remaining cylinder in the center of the small piece so as to hide the paper clips. Glue the resulting blank into the center of the large blank.

STEP 3

alifeofgeekery.co.uk

Wrap the gift with ribbon. Glue the resulting bow to it.

LUXURIOUS LONG RIBBON BOW

A large fluffy bow can be made from one piece of packaging tape without cutting it into pieces. You will need long paper or plastic (not textile) tape and scissors. Roll the ribbon into a roll the size of the future bow and fold the roll in half. Use scissors to cut off the corners at the fold on both sides. Tie the resulting bottleneck with a thin ribbon and straighten the bow.

This is useful:

ROSE FROM SATIN RIBBON Ribbon flowers can replace a bow on gift wrapping. This romantic decoration option is more suitable as a gift for one of the fair sex.

You will need: a fairly wide satin ribbon about 1 m long, a needle and thread, superglue.

STEP 1

Fold the edge of the tape and make a seam. Without cutting the thread, twist a small tube from the ribbon - the base of the flower. Folding the edges of the tape, make turns around the base and secure at the bottom using small seams.

STEP 2

Wrap the entire ribbon around the base, making the petals more and more voluminous. Cover the last turn with glue, having first cut the thread and made a small knot. This will help hide seams and blemishes.

DRY FLOWER JEWELRY

secondstreet.ru

A small bouquet of dried flowers, wrapped in paper, can replace the bow on the package.

WE PACK FLOWERS

If you are giving a bouquet, a “single” flower or a plant in a pot, you can also come up with packaging for such a gift that adds a festive mood and makes it special. The simplest option is to wrap the flower in a sheet of double-sided colored paper and tie it with a ribbon at the bottom.

expressionsflorist.co.nz

A more rigorous option is to use craft paper and coarse rope.

Another option is a delicate smoky packaging made from regular tracing paper.

To prevent flowers from wilting if they are placed in a vase directly in the package, before wrapping them in paper or cloth, wrap the ends of the stems with a damp cloth and on top with cling film.

joannagoddard.blogspot.com

The flowers themselves, or rather the leaves, can also be used as gift wrapping. For example, they can be used to decorate large candles. Place a rubber band on each candle and tuck flowers or leaves under it. Then hide the attachment point by tying the candle with ribbon or string.

If your gift is a plant in a pot, you can also make packaging for it, for example, from fabric...

Hello, dear readers! Today we will talk about how to design a gift box. “Spending several hours to decorate a surprise is nonsense,” you will answer, because now almost everywhere you can buy ready-made packaging for a gift of any shape and size.

However, those who like to give and receive truly original and unusual gifts will immediately understand us. A gift that is made with skill, of high quality, and even designed in an original way - it will surprise everyone! So, let's figure out how to design a gift in a unique and original way?

How to decorate a gift box: 12 simple and cool ways

You can decorate a surprise box in a variety of ways.

Thick paper will help you

You can use anything for this bag: thick polished paper, newspapers, magazines. You must take into account one thing: the packaging must ultimately be designed for the weight of the gift.

Study the picture below carefully and get started! Be sure to use glue at all joints.

This packaging is often decorated with various tags or bows, or ribbons and pendants are used. If you are giving a gift for the New Year, you can glue a Christmas tree toy, a ball, a cut out snowflake or a branch from a Christmas tree to the bag.

Boxes of various shapes

In fact, making original and creative packaging for your gift is easier than it might seem at first glance. To do this, you need to buy a stationery knife, as well as sheets of cardboard. Prepare additional decor with tools like a stapler.

The work is as easy as shelling pears: draw and cut out a certain template from a sheet of paper (it is often used in the future), transfer the completed stencil to thick paper and carefully cut out the resulting workpiece. After this, make cuts on the folds and make a box.

Chocolate girls

An unusual gift in the form of a chocolate bowl. This is a package the size of a standard chocolate bar. It contains some sweetness, as well as a sincere, original wish. A monetary addition is also often placed in the chocolate bowl. Money can be placed under a bookmark in the package.

The chocolate maker can be decorated for absolutely any occasion. For example, on New Year's Eve they often wrap a chocolate bar in white paper, draw a figure of a snowman, and glue a hat on the top. There is a huge variety of ways to decorate any gift you give.

Thematic wrapper

Here you can start from the interests of the person to whom you are giving the item. For travelers, you can wrap your gift in a standard map of geography, for a music lover - in images of notes, for athletes - in images of medals and cups.

Natural materials

Also, do not forget about natural materials, since natural and natural decorations on gifts have always been valued both before and now. This type of decoration is often called eco-style. Craft paper is often used for the base of this packaging, and pine cones, fir branches, flowers, berries, nuts, wooden figurines and bright bird feathers are used as decorations - small children especially like this.

Pyramids

The pyramid is a very unusual and original packaging. You can put some nice little surprise in it and give it for any occasion. To create it yourself, double-sided paper is used so that the inner surface of the box is also beautifully designed. You can make this packaging very quickly (about 15 minutes) and simply.

For this you will need:

  • beautiful paper;
  • regular scissors;
  • good glue;
  • thin tape that matches the paper;
  • varied decor.

Use of various materials: matchboxes, cans

In order for your gift to be different from the rest, to be remembered for a long time by a person and to surprise at first sight, you need to use something unusual.

For example, if you have a small gift, you can put it in an ordinary matchbox or in a nutshell. And also:

  • use regular newspapers instead of decorative paper,
  • sew together the boxes from the remaining postcards,
  • place gifts in egg trays,
  • decorated glass jars.

There are a great many options, the most important thing here is your imagination!

We focus on details

Many people forget that it is the details that give a gift its uniqueness and originality. If your packaging is already very bright and unusual, then you can do without various additions, since otherwise the gift will look tacky. However, if your gift packaging is of a standard, classic look, then the details are simply irreplaceable.

Japanese "furoshiki"

The art form “furoshiki” (literally translated as “bath mat”) is a method of elegantly decorating a piece of ordinary fabric. A kind of relative of origami, but only the work is done with textiles. This technique has been used for a very long time and was used in ancient Japan.

Below is a detailed diagram of how to assemble the box - it turns out very nicely)

Tags for wonderful gifts

Such leaves with small additions in the form of original inscriptions delight many people, because they are essentially the finishing touch of the product.

You can easily make tags yourself, using various decorative methods of “aging” the paper (it is soaked in weak coffee or weakly brewed tea, then the process of rubbing it with sandpaper is not rough, you can slightly tear the paper along the edges and much, much more).

Applications of Kraft Paper

Glittery gift paper is an important component for any gift wrapping. However, it looks pretty standard and many have already gotten tired of it. A substitute for this paper is eco-friendly kraft paper, which looks great and can be purchased at all office supply stores.

Important Note

In order for the packaging not to be boring, it needs to be decorated somehow. You can use drawing different figures and patterns with a felt-tip pen or paints, or by gluing a photo directly onto the wrapper - the main thing here is your imagination.

Using unusual decorations

While studying unique gift wrapping methods, it is necessary to talk about perhaps the most unusual method of decorating surprises - decorating with something edible. For example, lollipops, beautifully decorated sweets or delicious cookies in bright packaging will make the gift not only unique and inimitable, but also appetizing. You can use anything, the main thing is not to overdo it, know a person’s tastes, use your imagination and arrange everything correctly with taste.

And don’t forget that the most important thing in the process of gift wrapping is getting pleasure and pleasure from decorating the gift. Believe me, even glossy paper and gift ribbons can absorb your emotions and warmth, and the person to whom you give this beautifully designed gift will definitely feel it!

Don't forget to share this article with your friends and acquaintances on social networks. See you again and all the best!

Sincerely, Anastasia Skoracheva

An invitation to a holiday will inevitably raise questions among those invited - what to give and how to wrap the gift in an original way? Choosing a gift is a delicate matter. There are universal gifts:

  • money (for a wedding or birthday);
  • a bottle of good whiskey or aged wine (relevant for men);
  • large plush toys (for a child or newborn).

Gift wrapping in craft paper

Popular design options are a beautiful gift bag, gift paper, or a creatively designed box. Wrapping gifts with your own hands, beautifully and unusually, is not at all a difficult task.

Beautiful design of gift packaging

Decorating a gift with rope and sweets

Wrapping

A very common option for gift wrapping is gift wrapping paper. This option is suitable for a wedding, a birthday, a children’s party, and if you are just giving candy. You don't need to have special skills to carefully and beautifully wrap a rectangular box, book, picture or candy.

For packaging you will need:

  • beautiful gift paper;
  • scissors;
  • tape (you can use regular transparent tape, buy a special one with a pattern, or, best of all, take double-sided adhesive tape).

Gift wrapping in paper

The width of the paper must be no less than the length of the box folded to twice its height (a = b+2c, where a is the width of the paper, b is the length of the box, c is the height of the box). The length of the required amount of paper is the sum of the width of all sides of the parallelepiped box. It’s worth paying attention to this, because if you determine the dimensions correctly, it will be easier to pack.

Packing process

How to wrap a gift in paper:

  • We place a book or box with a gift in wrapping paper, across it. We glue tape to one of the edges of the paper and secure it to the box. It is better to measure in advance the amount of paper required for the wrapper and cut it off the roll, hiding the cut edge inside the package.
  • Wrap tightly so that the joint of the edges of the paper is on top. We fasten the second edge of the wrapping paper.
  • Now we wrap the ends. Bend the top part and secure it with tape.
  • Then there are two options: either we wrap the side parts, or the bottom part. The final appearance of the packaging depends on this. If you use double-sided tape, then there is no problem - it will not be visible.
  • We repeat the same on the other side of the box.
  • Add decorative bows or tie with ribbon. The beautiful book packaging is ready!

  • Gift wrapping in red paper

    Gift wrapping in red paper and golden ribbon

    This type of packaging is good for placing rectangular gifts, such as a book, perfume or candy. If it is not possible to purchase wrapping paper or the gift is too large (for example, a large painting or a toy for a newborn), then an interesting idea for packaging is to use fabric. This would be especially appropriate for gift wrapping for a chintz wedding (first anniversary of marriage) or for a holiday in honor of a newborn. The fabric should be used in the same way as paper; it can be secured with tape or glue.

    How to give money

    Money is usually given in an envelope that can be made at home. This is a great gift for a wedding or birthday! It is better to make an envelope for money from thick paper. A good idea is to use kraft paper as the base of the money envelope. Decorate it with appliqués, glitter or ribbons for an interesting and unique package.

    DIY gift wrapping of custom shapes

    To wrap gifts of non-standard shape, you need to get a little creative. An original idea for small gifts is to wrap it in a gift shirt or T-shirt:

  • We put the gift on the T-shirt, in its central part.
  • Alternately bend the upper part first, then the lower one towards the center.
  • We also fold the sides of the T-shirt. This packaging will look unusual.
  • To secure such packaging, use decorative or satin ribbon, bias tape, twine or twine. Carefully tie a bow and you're done.
  • If you choose a long-sleeved T-shirt (such as a sweatshirt or turtleneck), you can make a knot from the sleeves to secure it. A great option if you want to give your friend some sweets and an original T-shirt.

    Gift wrapping for a man

    An idea for packing a shirt as a gift for your husband for his birthday is a homemade bag made of thick paper. A man will appreciate not only the gift itself, but also the effort put into making the bag. You will need:

    • wrapping paper;
    • scissors;
    • glue and tape;
    • tape for handles.

    Men's gift bag

    How to do:

  • Fold the measured paper in half and secure the long free edges with tape.
  • Place the junction of the edges not on the fold of the package, but closer to the center. We transform the lower part into the bottom of the package. Make a fold (the distance will be equal to the width of the bottom). Separate the sides of the bag, fold the corners on both sides inward, making triangles. The side fold line on each triangle should coincide with the bottom fold line. Fold the bottom and top edges so that they are in place of the main fold. We fix this connection with tape. This is the most difficult stage of making a bag.
  • Take a rectangle of thick paper and glue tape-handles to it. Handicraft stores have blanks that you can purchase to significantly reduce the time it takes to make a bag.
  • We glue the rectangle with handles from the inside on opposite sides of the package. We wait until everything is dry and lay the shirt down.

  • Fabric men's gift bag

    Example of gift packaging for a man

    Original bottle packaging

    Good alcohol is often given as a gift, especially to men. How to pack a bottle as a gift so that it looks beautiful and elegant? You can use paper.

  • Cut a strip of paper to the appropriate width.
  • Wrap the paper around the bottle, securing the edges with tape.
  • At the bottom of the bottle you need to carefully bend the edges of the paper and secure with tape.
  • Tie the neck with a beautiful ribbon. Cut the remaining paper into narrow strips and twist with scissors.

  • Packing a bottle as a gift in paper

    The second idea for packaging a bottle as a gift for a man is a suit. The bottle costume looks very interesting and creative.

  • Take an old shirt and cut off the sleeve.
  • We place the bottle in it with the neck to the cuff so that it completely covers the neck.
  • Sew the edges at the bottom of the bottle. You can get more sophisticated and cut out a separate part for the bottom of the bottle.
  • Place an accessory (bow tie or tie for men, mini beads for women) at the bottom of the neck. You'll get a real costume for a bottle!

    How to pack tea as a gift in an original way

    In special stores that sell tea, there is a wide selection of all kinds of metal and wooden jars. But if you want to surprise the recipient, then make gift packaging for tea with your own hands.

    Types of packaging:

    • a bag made of transparent film (suitable for giving gourmet tea);
    • Kraft paper packaging;
    • original shaped box.

    To pack tea, it is better to choose rigid transparent film so that it forms something like a box rather than a bag. You can use floral film: it is easy to find and the color variations are very wide.

    Original tea box packaging

    Boxes of the original shape are quite simple to make; you need a lot of cardboard and a stationery knife.

  • We select a stencil and print it on plain paper in the correct actual size.
  • We transfer the contours onto cardboard.
  • We cut out the blank with a stationery knife.
  • We make small cuts at the folds.
  • Let's collect the box!
  • It is necessary to determine the dimensions correctly in advance; packing will be easier.

    Nowadays, DIY gift wrapping is actively becoming fashionable, and I decided to figure out what’s what - let’s find out what trends there are in gift wrapping, what you should focus on, and how in general you can pack a gift for any holiday with your own hands.

    Trends

    Nowadays, it is no longer enough to wrap a gift in gift paper - gone are the days when half a meter of sparkling paper with a ribbon bow was considered the best packaging. Currently, most attention is paid to three areas:
    • eco-style (one of its subtypes can be called rustic style);
    • minimalism;
    • eclecticism and futurism.
    Gift packaging in eco-style involves the use of natural materials - natural shades, various textures, nothing artificial. In this style, packaging made of kraft paper with a bow made of ordinary twine or twine looks good; quite often gifts are tied with unbleached linen or cotton.

    Minimalist motifs are always strict and restrained. Here you should be guided by one idea - the simpler the better. A minimal number of decorative elements is welcome here - for example, a gift can be wrapped in plain white paper, and a special small element made from a die-cut or a regular elegant tag can be used as decoration.

    Futuristic and eclectic notes will appeal to those who prefer to combine several styles into one - there can be an elaborate, complex bow made of satin ribbons and the simplest craft paper as packaging, or, on the contrary, a complex figured box covered with natural fabric for decoration can be attached with a decorative pin.

    So, what should be the design of gifts so that it is fashionable and beautiful? Unusual, stylish and neat.

    Original handmade boxes

    The simplest and at the same time effective way to pack a gift in an unusual way is to make a cardboard box for it. How to make a gift box in four easy steps?

    Another option for a homemade box:

    Template:

    Or this option:

    Templates for her:

    Or maybe make a pyramid?

    Scheme for the pyramid:

    By the way, a DIY gift box can be of any shape - why not a candy box? Especially if the gift is not too large or oblong.

    What is required to make this packaging?

    • Colored cardboard.
    • Ruler and pencil.
    • Scissors, stationery cutter.
    • Template (can be printed or redrawn).
    • Glue.
    • Ribbon or stiff thread.

    You can also make your own gift box in the shape of a piece of cake. Almost everyone loves sweets, and a piece of cake looks extravagant and cute at the same time.

    To make a piece of cardboard cake, you need to prepare:

    • thick colored paper or thin cardboard;
    • ruler and pencil;
    • glue.
    Manufacturing will take no more than half an hour. First you need to transfer the template onto the desired colored paper - it is better to make the top brown or pink (the color of the glaze), and the bottom part can be anything. By the way, you can make a bright cake, for example, in purple or pink colors - unusual and cool! Choose any lid: with a wavy edge or with a straight edge, and the base:

    The box is made of two fragments, the lower part should be smaller (literally a couple of millimeters in each direction). We cut out the blanks and transfer them to colored cardboard.

    We do the creasing (we draw a line along all the folds with a knitting needle until grooves form - this will make the folds smoother).
    We glue the blanks according to the allowances and dry them well. Our box is ready, now the only thing left is to decorate it.

    For example, you can make a light rose out of paper and tie it with twine.

    This option is easier to manufacture. Without removable lid. You just need to print (or draw by hand) this template on a beautiful cardboard, cut where it is marked, bend where the dotted lines are, glue where it says glue, and you're done!

    How to make an origami style box? You need to stock up on a ruler and a pencil, pick up two beautiful square sheets of paper (I use scrapbooking paper), and you will also need scissors. By the way, you can also use the box for your own needs - I store paper clips in one of these on my desk.

    Packed beautifully

    We already know how to make boxes, now we need to understand how to beautifully wrap a gift with our own hands. Of course, you can leave the gift as is (or put the gifts in gift boxes, which is also good), or you can think about how to decorate the gift and come up with something special.

    Let's look at how to wrap a gift in paper so that it looks truly stylish and does not give the impression of sloppiness. Pay attention to the choice of paper - you can choose regular light or dark paper, you can choose natural packaging paper (Kraft), or you can buy several sheets or rolls of beautiful printed paper from a scrapbooking store.

    See how to wrap a gift in an original way. Try a new way that attracts attention - your gift will look very, very unusual!

    How to do it right

    1. Packaging must be neat - cuts of paper or fabric must be even, and there should be no visible traces of glue, tape or paper clips.
    2. It should completely hide the gift, then you can make a surprise and give the hero of the occasion not only your gift, but also a few exciting minutes of guessing and guessing what is hidden inside.
    3. Don't forget about the decor and name card - such details always catch the eye.

    How classic gift packaging is made:

    This was a classic type of packaging, and now there will be an original gift packaging for a man or woman - in the form of a Christmas tree.

    We will need:

    • packaging - it can be wrapping paper, fabric or film;
    • glue (for fabric) or double-sided tape (for paper);
    • sharp scissors;
    • various decor - ribbons, cutting, feathers, butterflies.
    To make a pigtail, you will need a lot of decorative paper. So, we consider: we will need to completely wrap the box (width and allowances), and in length we will need to take 1.5 measurements of the length of the gift and 2 of its height. By the way, you don’t have to fasten the Christmas tree, but collect it in a kind of ponytail, then it’s better to take the length of your gift and multiply it by 2.5 - then you’ll definitely have enough.

    As a practice, try wrapping any small box with a piece of newspaper or plain paper - this way you will understand how to fold the folds, where to lay the tape and practice a little.

    This way you can make packaging for anything - it could be a large box of chocolates and an ordinary book, a set of cosmetics or a plush toy.

    Tying bows

    Tiffany

    Another simple and effective bow

    1. Fold the bow according to the photo instructions and tie it with thread.
    2. We tie a ribbon around the box, put our bow on top of the knot and tie another ribbon bow on top of it. See photo master class:

    Or this version from paper:

    Here is a decor option made from satin ribbon:

    The box can also be decorated with flowers made from plain paper or corrugated paper (an ordinary napkin will do), see:

    Various packaging options

    Have you ever thought about how the packaging for New Year's gifts should be different? How can you make packaging wedding gifts interesting and atypical?
