Biography

A. S. Tsvetkov was born into a peasant family in the Tver province, later moved to live in Moscow, and joined the Union of Artists of the USSR. But every year he came to his Tver village, where many of the images of his unique works were born. With the beginning of the Second World War, he volunteered for the front, was seriously wounded in battle, and lost his leg. In 1951, A. S. Tsvetkov graduated from the Leningrad Higher Art and Industrial School named after. V. Mukhina.

- Is it true that before that victorious playoff, the whole team “conjured”? Even in May, Andrei Safronov wore a “lucky down jacket”, Oleg Znarok conjured Dynamo’s mascot, the cat Masha...

Oh, but I don’t like cats at all. Some stroke her, take her in their arms (Oleg Znarok, Nikolai Zherdev. - Note edit.), but for me, she runs around and runs around, so what? During the elimination games, I personally limited myself to stopping shaving. Although there was some kind of team chemistry, of course. We watched clips from films, went to Vorobyovy Gory. They stood there in a circle, hugged each other, like in the “Brigade,” folded their hands in the center, and vowed to hold out until the end. Judging by the result, it worked.

- What is more valuable to you personally - the championship with Dynamo or the unexpected silver with the HC MVD two years earlier?

Their victories are all good. But which one is better for me, I will never say.

And that’s what Tsvetkov is all about. He categorically does not like to reflect on the public, and when asked about his childhood he invariably answers: “Is this interesting to anyone?” Actually, yes! Here are just a few interesting facts. Alexey started playing in the hockey section at the age of 9 - quite late by modern standards. Now such children in sections are called “overgrown”. However, already at the age of 14, at a tournament in Canada, he was recognized as the best player.

- And yet, why did you decide to advance in professional sports?

It’s all enchanting now for novice hockey players - they got into a Mercedes and went to sign their first contract. We arrived at Severstal with our luggage on a simple Ikarus. We lived in a dormitory, and in the evenings we ran to the payphone to call our parents. Was it hard? It’s not easy, of course, but I understood that in the 90s, hockey for me was the only way to get out into people and achieve something. And that I will always have time to return to Rybinsk.

- Are you currently communicating with your first coach?

We constantly talk on the phone, he still suggests something. When Dynamo won in 2013, I came to my home school with the Gagarin Cup. A lot of fans came, especially children. I didn't expect such a stir.

- What else do you do when you are at home?

Fishing, hunting. I go wild boar and elk hunting.

- Isn’t that yours standing there? (I point to a stuffed huge bear in the lobby of the base.)

Maxim Yuryevich (defender Maxim Solovyov. - Note ed.). You won't get bored in the locker room with him! When Ovechkin played with us, we also laughed all the time, but Backstrom was more silent. - Do your children play sports?

Stefania is my youngest, she goes to the rhythmic gymnastics section at Irina Viner’s school. The eldest Nika loves swimming. True, I think that studying is more important for girls. But if I had a son, I would really like him to connect his life with sports.

Never!

In the second season, he scored even more points - 28. The hockey player’s utility indicator was +18, which is the best in Alexey’s career. In the playoffs he managed to play only 7 matches.

In the third season, the striker played 50 matches, scored 8 goals and gave 15 assists. The utility indicator dropped by half and amounted to +9. The 2015/16 season was the best in the hockey player’s career in terms of the number of matches played. There were 58 of them. In these meetings, Tsvetkov scored 39 points, which is the best figure in his career.

Last season, the striker was able to score 7 goals and give 17 assists. In the regular season of the Kontinental Hockey League, Alexey Tsvetkov played 43 games, but did not take part in the playoffs.
