Tonic for very oily skin. Facial toner at home. "Gentle Care", Garnier

The main effect of tonics and lotions is to cleanse the skin; they are designed to disinfect it, remove excess fat from the pores and tighten them, and remove dirt accumulated during the day. However, the action of some lotions and tonics is also aimed at combating acne; They help relieve fatigue, smooth the skin, give it freshness, and have an anti-inflammatory effect.

These products can also be prepared at home, and their composition will depend on your skin type. For example, lotions for oily skin often contain alcohol, as it promotes deeper cleansing, removes oil from pores, narrows them and tightens the skin. If the skin is dry, then the presence of alcohol is not allowed.

How is lotion different from tonic?

The difference between lotion and tonic is as follows:

The lotion is used to cleanse the skin, remove impurities, and disinfect. Tonic primarily moisturizes the skin, softens it, saturates it with nutrients and helps retain moisture.

The lotion can cause irritation to sensitive skin due to the alcohol content, the tonic is a hypoallergenic delicate product that is suitable for any skin type.

The lotion is good for oily, problematic skin prone to acne (pimples), the tonic is ideal for dry, mature, sensitive skin.

But the best option would be to use these two products sequentially: first a lotion to cleanse, then a tonic to tone the skin.

Making lotions

Recipe 1

Grate the orange with the peel on a fine grater (be sure to wash it first). Then pour vodka (150 grams) into the fruit pulp and add a teaspoon of honey. Close the container with these ingredients tightly and leave in the refrigerator for a week. Then shake the mixture, strain and add two more tablespoons of water.

The finished product is suitable for daily cleansing of oily skin.

Recipe 2 - cucumber lotion

Lotion with cucumbers has an excellent effect for oily skin:

finely grate 1 cucumber, add 1 teaspoon of boric acid. Wipe your face with the resulting juice every evening. These ingredients will help dry out problematic oily skin a little and prevent various inflammations.

Recipe 3 - lotion made from sour berries and fruits

Lotion for oily and problem skin made from sour berries and fruits:

To make this lotion, you will need any sour berries or fruits. You can choose from the following: apples, sour grapes, plums, cranberries, red currants, cherries. If desired, you can use one type or several.

Mash the pulp thoroughly (you should get 0.5 cups). Pour the same amount of dry white grape wine over the pulp. If you don't have grape wine, you can use apple wine. Pour into a container with a tight lid, close and leave for a week. Strain, add 1 teaspoon of table vinegar to the liquid part.

Use the resulting mixture for daily wiping of the facial skin.

Recipe 4

Cleanser for oily skin. On a fine grater, grate a whole medium-sized orange (along with the peel), fill it with vodka (150 g) and add one teaspoon of natural honey. Place the prepared mixture in a dark place and leave for seven days, then strain it and add 2 tablespoons of pure boiled water.

Use this remedy daily.

Tonic

Toning is the final stage of the skin cleansing procedure. Tonic lotion removes the last remnants of makeup and cleanser from the face; gives the skin a fresh look; refreshes, tones and smoothes the skin; tightens pores and makes them less noticeable; softens the skin and restores acid-base balance; prepares her for the application of moisturizer. Tonics improve blood microcirculation and the condition of blood vessels, stimulate metabolic processes, and accelerate cell renewal. Treatment with toner helps increase the skin's natural ability to retain moisture.

For oily facial skin, you should choose antibacterial or special tonics with a two-component composition. They absorb excess oil from the surface of the skin and prevent sebum production throughout the day.

For inflamed facial skin, it is better to use alcohol-containing tonics. In this case, after treatment with tonic, various anti-inflammatory drugs are applied to the skin, for example, topical antibiotics (prescribed by a dermatologist).

Recipe 1 - strawberry tonic

Mash half a glass of strawberries thoroughly to obtain juice. Then pour a glass of vodka over them, close with a tight lid and place in a dry, dark place for a month. After this, strain the liquid, dilute with boiled water in a ratio of 1:2. Use for daily facial cleansing

Recipe 2 - simple homemade tonic

This tonic is very easy and quick to prepare. It is especially good because it is suitable even for washing very oily and problematic skin. All the ingredients for such a product can be easily found at home!

Dilute 2 teaspoons of salt and ½ teaspoon of citric acid into 0.5 liters of chilled boiled water. You can also add a couple of drops of regular iodine, which is sold in pharmacies. Stir well to ensure no undissolved salt or acid remains, and use immediately.

You can wipe your face as with a regular tonic or lotion, or you can directly wash your face with this composition - the latter is especially recommended for skin prone to inflammatory processes.

Recipe 3 - birch bud tonic

Recipe 4 - bay leaf tonic

Pour a glass of boiling water over 4-5 bay leaves and leave for about 3 hours. The resulting liquid perfectly mattifies oily skin areas.

Recipe 5 - orange-mint facial toner

This toner removes remaining dirt and dead skin particles from the face. Mint leaves are rich in iron and menthol, which help tighten pores and refresh the skin. Citrus fruits restore healthy skin pH after cleansing.

  • 3 tablespoons fresh mint leaves
  • zest of one orange
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 tablespoon witch hazel extract

1. Place fresh mint leaves in a glass cup and crush them slightly to release the fragrant essential oils. Add orange zest.

2. Pour boiling water over the leaves and let cool completely.

3. Strain the orange mint tonic to remove any solids. Add witch hazel extract (you can use witch hazel hydrolate)

4. Use toner after washing your face, morning and evening.

Proper skin care includes four required stages:

  1. Exfoliation of old cells.
  2. Cleansing from impurities.
  3. Toning.
  4. Hydration.

The basis of careful facial care is cleansing. But it is important not only to cleanse, but also to tone the skin. During the day, the face collects a large amount of dirt, and regular cleansing cannot cope with it. A simple detergent is not able to reach the impurities in the deep layers of the dermis. There are toners for this: they penetrate deep into the pores of oily skin.

As a result, pores are reduced and the natural pH balance is restored. The face becomes truly clean and healthy. Now it is ready to apply moisturizer. A simple tonic is easy to make yourself! You can look to the kitchen for ingredients and start on the path to better skin from there.

Homemade facial tonics perfectly preserve the health and youth of your face. They prevent the formation of pimples and acne. And this is so important for oily skin!

Toners have long been an integral part of my facial skin care - a mandatory completion of cleansing.

Tonics remove unnoticeable makeup residues, neutralize the effects of washing with aggressive products, tighten pores, dry or moisturize optionally.

They don't work miracles, but without them I don't have the feeling of clear skin.

A little about my skin: she's problematic. Not terrible, but nevertheless a couple of inflammations, a few traces of them, a very oily T-zone, enlarged pores, dark spots - all this is present.

Therefore, all my tonic lotions are, in one way or another, designed to care only for problem skin. At the moment, I have accumulated a small collection of budget funds that anyone can afford. Finding them is also not a problem. Among them there are very cool ones, which I buy all the time, and outsiders. I will tell you more about each of them in order of increasing effect.

Liquid of poisonous color and odor. Fifty percent consists of alcohol and that says it all. If you apply it all over your face, you can probably dry out your skin to the point of a mummy. I didn’t take any chances, I applied it precisely to the inflammation. The skin at these “points” began to peel off, but, characteristically, the inflammatory process showed no sign of slowing down. I know that the alcohol in the composition helps many people, but in my case the product turned out to be useless. I used it to disinfect non-living surfaces and as an antiseptic for cat scratches. Unfortunately, the face didn't work out. By the way, almost all “anti-acne” lotions from the supermarket range - L'Oréal, Garnier, Clearasil, Clean & Clear - act on my skin in about the same way, i.e. not at all.

2. Facial tonic "Deep cleansing" for problematic and oily skin Ecolab

Compound :

Aqua, Glycerin, Sea Water, Organic Iris Extract, Organic Salvia Extract, Sodium Cocoamphoacetate, Hydrolyzed Rise Protein, Lavandula essential Oil, Sodium Benzoate , Potassium Sorbate, Sorbic Acid, Perfume.

When you open the bottle, the first thing that hits your head is the chemical smell of cheap perfume with flowers, which does not disappear after use for several hours. If you are sensitive to odors, like me (they give me headaches), then I don’t recommend it right away. I don’t understand why these strong fragrances are in the facial water. But maybe the product has such an effect that it’s worth putting up with the smell? Nothing like that, quite the opposite. The tonic forms a kind of film under which the skin does not breathe. Unpleasant feeling. Perhaps this is the effect of glycerin, but glycerin is also in the composition of good toners, which behave much better on my skin. In addition, with this toner, the skin becomes oily several times faster than usual. As for the promised anti-inflammatory effect, it is zero. And even 95% naturalness coupled with a good composition does not save.

All products of this kind with the prefix “powder” that I have come across form white streaks of this same powder on the face. This toner is no exception. Why do you need such a product at all? It cannot replace regular powder; moisturizer on top of it is difficult to absorb; you can’t do without cream here, because tonic dries out the skin. In fact, it can only be used at night, but the promised matting and narrowing of pores at night are somehow not relevant.

A rare member of the Propeller family that I like. This is my second jar. It contains zinc, salicylic acid and no glycerin. It does not have visual effects such as evening out tone or narrowing pores, but it has an antimicrobial effect. If there are small pustules on the skin, he quickly deals with them. It can be applied pointwise to problem areas several times a day, I can see the results. It makes sense to alternate it with other tonics. It noticeably dries out the skin if applied all over the face. The smell is sweetish and cosmetic, disappears quickly.

The famous Belarusian Teebaum line for problem skin with tea tree. I have a very ambivalent attitude towards this tonic. On the one hand, it does not dry out the skin at all, and if you apply it liberally to the face and leave it overnight, then in the morning even severe inflammations are very noticeably reduced (a similar effect was had by the concentrated cream for spot application of the same line). But on the other hand, I don’t feel comfortable using it at all - the strong smell of tea tree (I don’t like it), there is no feeling of clean skin, it is felt on the face, it cannot be used as a standard under cream and, finally, an oily sheen appears very quickly. I use it very rarely because of this. But in particularly advanced cases it really works.

I have tried all these lotions for “stop problems”. In the end I settled on two. I won’t say anything about lightening, I didn’t find such an effect, but my skin is already quite light. The same applies to post-acne - I didn’t notice any special effect in this direction. Otherwise, it copes with all its functions perfectly: it cleanses the skin, gives a feeling of cleanliness, tightens pores, has almost no smell, and you can immediately apply cream after it. If used solo, there will be a feeling of tightness, but without peeling.

And finally, my darling! :) I don’t know which jar this is. Of all the similar lotions from this manufacturer, for me it is the best. It does not dry out the skin at all - in the summer after it I don’t have to use any additional products. It lightens blackheads a little (salicylic acid is also found in other lotions, but this is the only one I noticed a similar effect from). If the skin has a dull color, a lot of small redness, plus is irritated by washing, then the lotion quickly calms it down, and it looks different after it - fresher and with a more even tone. Overall it feels clean and smooth. Nourishing and moisturizing creams after this lotion are quickly absorbed by the skin, and BB cream or powder goes on smoothly. In general, this is my little lifesaver for ridiculous money. No matter what I try, I always come back to it, especially when I have skin problems. And yes - it is completely odorless, everyone should take an example!

I usually buy “stop problems” lotions at pharmacies. But lately they have become difficult to find. In this case, I order from online stores - they don’t have the whole range, but you can catch the ones you need.

This is what my modest anti-crisis reserve looks like. I would be glad if you recommend your favorite product of the same kind!

Tonic is a water-based liquid product designed to cleanse the skin, remove makeup residues, dust and sebum. The product may contain herbal extracts, vinegar, alum, menthol, boric acid, glycerin, camphor, and various essential oils. Milder toners do not contain alcohol, but for oily skin products with a small percentage of ethyl or salicylic alcohol are recommended. It dissolves the sebum produced by the skin well, effectively cleansing the pores.

On sale you can find moisturizing, astringent, refreshing tonics. The softest option - moisturizing - contains a minimum of alcohol and glycerin, which retains moisture in the skin. This tonic can be packaged in spray bottles - they are very convenient to use, spraying the liquid on the face, neck and décolleté.

Stronger cleansing tonics are designed to complete the makeup removal process. They can contain up to 20% alcohol, as well as herbal extracts - mint, witch hazel, rosemary, sage or nettle. Toners based on thermal water are very useful - they stimulate cell renewal, cleanse the skin well and do not dry it out.

Very oily, shiny skin needs mattifying tonics containing mineral powder that absorbs excess sebum well. Such products should be shaken before use and applied with a cotton swab.

For inflamed areas of the skin, astringent tonics with a high content of alcohol, menthol, camphor, and tea tree oil are suitable. They are applied to pimples and inflammations, being careful not to get on the delicate skin around the eyes. Therapeutic tonics dry the skin well, treat existing inflammations and prevent the appearance of new ones.

Choosing the right tonic

There are good tonics in cosmetic lines of different price groups. Try to buy products without dyes and harsh fragrances that can irritate the skin. Very high quality products can be found among pharmacy brands. Such tonics can not only mattify and refresh the face. Some have a lifting effect, actively moisturize or exfoliate the skin well.

There are products of different sizes on sale. For everyday use you can purchase large bottles with dispensers; for trips there are special travel versions. Cosmetologists recommend using tonic together with other products from the same line - this way the cosmetics will be especially effective.

Facial toner is a basic thing that should be in your cosmetic bag. It is the main product for facial care. Its mission will be to cleanse and moisturize your skin, which means you can’t do without it.

Kinds

No alcohol. Those that are completely free of alcohol (alcohol free) can be very difficult to find. They are mainly found in more expensive brands or in pharmacies. Tonics without alcohol should be purchased by women with dry skin. If you use a product with alcohol, the epidermis will become even drier.

Mattifying/balancing. This type is intended for girls with oily and problem skin. The only drawback they have is their alcohol content. Girls with oily shine need to use just this type, they “dry”, thereby removing the unaesthetic shine of the face and fighting pimples. Alcohol is also the most natural antibacterial component.

Moisturizing/soothing. Contains healing aloe vera extracts, glycerin and anti-aging hyaluronic acid. These components will perfectly combat any contamination.

Benefit

Tonic is a miracle cure. With the right choice, it will fight enlarged pores, eliminating dust and dirt and excess sebum. It also perfectly fights acne (blackheads, hated by all women). Through deep penetration, the components gently and safely act on the dermis.

When using it, the pores are cleaned, getting rid of rough cells.

prolongs youth. Vee seed oil

For the problematic one. The tonic balances and normalizes the production of essential sebum from the sebaceous glands. It is worth monitoring its use; if you overdo it, the dermis will be overly moisturized, which means the original condition will worsen even more.

For the dehydrated. If your condition leaves much to be desired, you are constantly plagued by problems with peeling and various irritations, look for a tonic with oils. Shea butter has softening and protective functions. Olive oil has a sufficient amount of vitamins A, E, B.

As we know, vitamin E prolongs youth. Grape seed oil has chlorovil, microelements, tanning properties, as well as B vitamins. Helps regulate fat metabolism.

photos

From oily shine. This variety contains mainly alcohol, which fights oily shine, relieves the feeling of tightness, softens the skin, but at the same time mattifies it. But it’s worth remembering that excessive use of alcohol-based tonics leads, paradoxically, to even more secretions from the sebaceous glands.

Ingredients

Before purchasing this or that tonic, you should carefully study the composition, which is described on the back of the label. All of them have a predominant composition of water (90-95%), and only the remaining percentage remains for various additives. Among the additives we can find:

  • Alcohol is the main component that fights excess fat. Normalizes discharge and mattifies.
  • Vitamins of various groups - A, B, K, E, L, etc. Each of them has its own mission, so it’s worth initially studying what exactly your body is missing.
  • Panthenol is a healing agent. It contains panthenolic acids, which restore the damaged layer of the epidermis and accelerate metabolism in cells.
  • Extracts of medicinal herbs. They help maintain water balance, fight redness and nourish the skin.
  • Salicylic acid. It dries problem areas and disinfects.

Application: basic rules

  1. The first and most important step is proper cleansing of the skin. Tonic (like masks, scrubs) is applied only to clean skin.
  2. It is most convenient to use cotton pads when applying tonic. After you have moistened the disc, you can begin to wipe your face with smooth massaging movements.
  3. The order should be as follows: start from the middle of the cheeks, then smoothly move towards the ears. After this, we smoothly move to the middle of the forehead and only after that - to the eyelids and chin.

Why is it necessary to wipe your face with toner using this system? After some time, you will see that such movements prevent the skin from stretching, old wrinkles will begin to smooth out, deeper cleansing occurs, and puffiness will disappear under the eyes.

Which one to choose: rating and reviews

The use of tonic should not be neglected. This is the most important step in skin cleansing. The main thing is to know which one to choose.

  • Yves Rocher. It is perfect for those with extremely dry skin. The composition includes ash tree juice, which perfectly nourishes.
  • La Roche-Posay "Physio". It perfectly soothes the skin. Suitable if you have very sensitive skin. The composition contains thermal water, which combats the feeling of tightness.
  • Natura Siberica. Almost the only lotion for oily skin that does not contain alcohol. Sage performs a matting function. Chamomile and green tea leaf extract, as well as sage, fight problem areas of the skin and balance secretions from the sebaceous glands.

  • "Clean line". A pleasant surprise was that it was already whipped to a foamy state. It contains refreshing mint and chamomile that fights all bacteria and impurities.
  • Green Mama. This tonic contains 98.8% natural ingredients. It belongs to eco-cosmetics, which means it copes with its tasks perfectly. Suitable for girls with oily and combination skin.
  • Nivea toner. It has a drying effect, is easily washed off with water, tightens pores and perfectly cleanses the skin. Contains natural rice extract. It is rich in potassium, phosphorus, calcium, iron and iodine. Due to the properties of rice, a tonic based on it perfectly cleanses the skin.
